National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship

Award: $30,000, Deadline: November (first week)

Applicant must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States who is in the early stages of graduate study in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Eligibility is limited to applicants who have completed no more than 12 months of post-baccalaureate, full-time graduate study at the time of their application. Award is for up to three years over a five year period.

 

National Physical Science Consortium Graduate Fellowship

Award: $20,000, Deadline: November 30

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen who is eligible to pursue graduate study at a participating NPSC-member university. Minimum 3.0 GPA, application, transcripts, GRE general exam scores, and three to five letters of recommendation required.

 

SDE Fellowship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a woman who holds a degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, and is able to show documented evidence of outstanding ability and promise in research.

 

David G. Casavan Memorial Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must have a minimum 2.8 GPA, be a resident of a Ventura County, and be pursuing a degree in engineering, mathematics or physical science.

 

CERT Scholars Fund

Award: $1,000, Deadline: September 15 (fall); February 15 (spring)

Applicant must be a member of an American Indian tribe and must have successfully completed a high school summer transition program offered by CERT or a tribal internship program. Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate (12 hours/semester) or graduate (9 hours/semester) student enrolled at an accredited two or four year tribal, private, or public university or college.

 

CFUW Memorial Fellowship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must be a woman who is a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who is enrolled in a masters degree program in engineering, mathematics, and science for the 2008-2009 academic year. Study abroad students are also eligible to apply.

 

The SAPA Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 30

Applicant must be a high school senior who is planning to attend a full-time undergraduate program at an accredited four-year college/university with a major related to life sciences. Applicant must have a minimum 3.3 GPA, a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 2000, and be in the top tenth (or top quarter) of their class. Essay, two letters of recommendation, list of all awards received, list of Advanced Placement or Honors courses with grades, and transcripts are required to be submitted.

 

Kent Weigel Math Scholarship

Award: $750, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a Ventura County resident, a graduating high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrates financial need. Applicant must major in math, physical or natural sciences.

 

AAAS Mass Media Science and Engineering Fellows

Award: $450, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be enrolled in a college or university in the natural, physical, health, engineering, computer, social sciences or mathematics fields.

 

Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship for Minorities

Award: $24,000, Deadline: November 14

Applicant must be U.S. citizen or national who is an Alaskan Native, Native American, black/African-American, Mexican American, Pacific Islander, or Puerto Rican. Applicant must have completed no more than 30 semester/45 quarter hours of graduate work in fields eligible for support.

 

Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship for Minorities

Award: $35,000, Deadline: Early January

Applicant must have completed a Ph.D. or Sc.D. within seven years, be a U.S. citizen or national, and be an Alaskan Native, Native American, black/African-American, Mexican-American, Pacific Islander, or Puerto Rican.

 

Graduate Research Program for Women/Cooperative Research Fellowship/Ph.D. Fellowship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is black, Hispanic, Native American, female Asian/Pacific Islander or female Caucasian. Selection is based upon scholastic aptitude, academic performance, class rank, leadership, motivation, and ability. Ph.D. program is by invitation only.

 

Jerry B. Addy Memorial Scholarship

Award: $300, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

 

Marshall Williams and Grace Cornett Bell Memorial Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Financial need is considered.

 

Mary Caroline and Robert Oliver Carmichael Memorial Fund Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

 

Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Award: $1,500, Deadline: June 30

Selection is based upon academic excellence measured by the weighted average of students scores on Regents exams taken prior to senior year. Subject areas are: comprehensive English, global studies, U.S. history/government, level three math, and science.

 

Edward L. and Virginia A. Stanley Scholarship

Award: $1,700, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA.

 

Northrop Grumman Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 28

Applicant must be a female full-time student at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Engineering. Focus on one of the following disciplines is required: civil and materials, electrical and computer, computer science, or mechanical engineering. Applicant must show evidence of above average academic performance (minimum GPA 3.0/4.0). Women of color (African American, Latina, Native American) are encouraged to apply. Application coversheet, biographical statement, current resume or CV (list your education and employment history), UIC transcript, proof of financial aid eligibility, proof of U.S. citizenship (copy of birth certificate or passport), and two letters of recommendation (include at least one from a UIC instructor) required.

 

Vessa Notchev Fellowship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a woman and an SDE/GWIS member, who holds a degree from a recognized institution of higher learning, and is able to show documented evidence of outstanding ability and promise in research.

 

Mathematical Sciences Alumni Scholarship

Applicant must enroll full time, be admitted to the university by early February, and be majoring in mathematics.

 

Health Research Training Program

Award: -, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a New York City resident who is attending a metropolitan New York City school. The program offers internships in public health research, community outreach and education, fieldwork, laboratory work and administration to all college undergraduates, graduate, and professional school students.

 

NJ Center for Science and Technology Education Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum combined SATI score of 1100. All applicants must be interviewed by NJ Center for Science and Technology Education.

 

DOE Office of Science Graduate Fellowship Program

Award: $45,500, Deadline: January 3

Applicant must be an outstanding student pursuing graduate training in basic research areas of physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, computer/computational sciences, or environmental sciences relevant to the Office of Science.

 

The Hubertus W.V. Willems Scholarship for Male Students

Applicant must be a male student, majoring in engineering, chemistry, physics or mathematical sciences in undergraduate or graduate school. Financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Patricia Collins Amaral Memorial Fund

Award: $600, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

 

Foundation Academic Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must be a new full-time freshman student majoring in the math or science area and who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. Applicant must have a 90% unweighted high school average and a minimum 1100 SAT score or higher (24 ACT score or higher).

 

HSF/MassMutual Multicultural College Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: May 9

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of African-American, Asian/Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic heritage. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and plan to enroll as a full-time student pursuing a degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, marketing, mathematics, or statistics at a four-year accredited institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam during the upcoming academic year. FAFSA is required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

 

Albert J. Wacker Scholarship

Applicant must be a Lorain County resident pursuing a degree in either math or science at an undergraduate or graduate level. Academic achievement and financial need are considered. FAFSA and Student Aid Report are required. Award amount is determined by committee.

 

Francis M. Dowd Scholarship

Applicant must be the son or daughter of a permanent Raytheon employee, who has been accepted to the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus as a full-time student in engineering, physical sciences or mathematics. Selection based on academic promise and financial need.
