Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship in Humanistic Studies

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, must plan to enter a Ph.D. program in the humanities, plan a career in college teaching, and present evidence of outstanding academic promise. Applicant must take the GRE test by December 1.

 

Woodrow Wilson Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Humanities

Award: $30,000, Deadline: January 21

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a Ph.D. from a U.S. or Canadian institution.

 

Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellowship in Women's Studies

Award: $5,000, Deadline: October 15

Applicant must be writing a dissertation on a topic concerning women or on women's/children's health.

 

Community Action Grant

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a woman and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Proposed activity must have direct community or public impact and relate to education and equity for women and girls. Applicant may apply for one grant only. One-year grants ($2,000-$7000 over one year) provide seed money for new projects. Two year grants (5,000-10,000 over two years) provide start-up funds for longer-term programs that address the particular needs of the community and develop girls' sense of efficacy through leadership or advocacy opportunities.

 

Fellowship on Women and Public Policy

Award: $9,000, Deadline: September 1

Applicant must be enrolled at a college or university in New York state, have completed at least 12 hours of graduate work, and demonstrate interest in improving the status of women through studies, research, employment, or volunteer work. Fellowship includes work at the Center for Women in Government & Civil Society and at either the New York state legislature, a state agency, or a statewide advocacy organization in Albany, N.Y.

 

Lerner-Scott Prize

Award: $1,000, Deadline: October 1

Applicant must submit letter of support, table of contents, and sample chapter from dissertation on U.S. women's history.

 

Amy Louise Hunter Fellowship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: Varies

Application, supplemental materials, or book manuscript eligible for publication by the State Historical Society of Wisconsin Press are required to be submitted. Applicant is encouraged to discuss his or her project with the editorial director prior to submission.

 

Lois McNeil Dissertation Fellowship

Award: $14,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a doctoral candidate researching for dissertation. Award is a residential research fellowship in Winterthur's library and museum collections.

 

Winterthur Research Fellowship

NWSA Graduate Scholarship in Lesbian Studies

O. Ruth McQuown Scholarship

Applicant must be a female with an excellent academic record who is enrolled in full-time study.

 

NEH Fellowship

Award: $30,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be an academic, museum, or independent scholar, and be a U.S. citizen or have been a U.S. resident for at least three years. Award is not for dissertation research. Award is a residential research fellowship in Winterthur's library and museum collections.

 

University Women's Commission Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a women who has a minimum of 24 semester credit hours completed at the university. Two letters of reference, essay, transcript, commitment to social and/or women's issues through course of study, career plans, and community and campus activities are required. Financial need and GPA will also be considered.

 

Women Aloud

Award: $250, Deadline: February 13

Applicant must be a women's studies major or minor, submit an essay discussing the importance of women's studies and a letter of reference.

 

Diana Balmori Award

Award: $500, Deadline: February 13

Applicant must be a women's studies major or minor. Essay discussing goals and role as an activist and letter of reference required.

 

AFSCME/UNCF Union Scholars Program

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 28

Applicant must attend a four year college or university and must hold a valid driver's license.

 

Patricia Collins Amaral Memorial Fund

Award: $600, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.
