Essay, two letters of recommendation, list of all awards received, list of Advanced Placement or Honors courses with grades, and transcripts are required to be submitted.

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen who is a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicant must submit a research proposal related to space and including an extramural research experience at a NASA field center, plan to be involved in ASGC outreach activities, and demonstrate career interests congruent to NASA's aerospace, science, and technology programs. Selection is based upon research proposal, letters of recommendation, resume, standardized test scores, and transcript.

Applicant must be a woman between the ages of 17 and 35, a U.S. citizen, and a current member, or daughter or granddaughter of a current of Sons of Norway member (membership must be for a minimum of three years). Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student who has completed at least one term (quarter or semester) of her studies after being accepted as a major either in chemistry, physics or chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering. Selection is based upon long-term career goals and clarity of student plan, academic potential and evidence of ability to succeed, and letters of recommendation giving specific evidence of good character, eagerness, and earnestness, and ambition in the field of science and engineering. Application, essay, grade transcript, and three letters of recommendation are required.

Applicant must be a woman who has returned to academic studies after an absence of at least three years. Applicant must demonstrate exceptional qualities of interest, excellence, and professional potential in chemistry and must be nominated by a member of Iota Sigma Pi or by a faculty member. Applicant must be enrolled in a secondary education program related to the water industry, including community college, technical school, four-year undergraduate programs, and masters and doctoral programs. Applicants must be either an Illinois resident or enrolled in an Illinois secondary education program. This includes, but is not limited to such fields of study as water utility operations and management, civil or environmental engineering, environmental science and policy, chemistry, biology, or water resource management. Selection based on merit/academic performance, leadership/extracurricular activities, recommendation letters, personal statement outlining qualifications for the award, and essay on how applicant envisions contributing to the water industry in the future. Applicants with prior experience in the water industry are preferred.
