Selection is based upon academic aptitude, vocational promise, character, financial need, and willingness to continue a career in a field related to electrical energy. These fields include communications, education, electrical engineering, electric utilities, extension work, housing and home furnishings, journalism, manufacturers of electrical household equipment, marketing, radio, research, and television.
