Scholarships in Doctoral-level Study

ScholarshipPoints $10,000 Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: Last day of every month

Applicant must be a registered member of ScholarshipPoints.com. Chances of receiving the awards or odds of qualifying for additional scholarships are increased by taking surveys, reading blogs, and other easy activities. Applicant must be a high school, college, graduate, doctoral, transfer, non-traditional/adult learner, or other postgraduate student. Multiple drawings are held each month.

 

No Essay College Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: The last day of each month

Applicant must be a high school or college student or a student planning to enroll in school within 12 months. One individual will be randomly selected each month; applicants may apply monthly.

 

Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB)

Award: $8,865, Deadline: None

Applicant must enlist in active Army. Individual must contribute $1,200, which is deducted from first year's pay. Award is for up to $985 per month for up to 36 academic months.

 

Montgomery GI Bill/Army College Fund

Award: $12,499, Deadline: None

Applicant must enlist in the active Army for specified critical military skills. Individual must contribute $1,200, which is deducted from first year's pay. Award is for up to $1,388 per month for up to 36 academic months.

 

Loan Repayment Program

Award: $3,500, Deadline: None

Applicant must enlist in the Army for three years. Award will repay up to $65,000 of federally insured student loans.

 

Vocational Rehabilitation for Disabled Veterans

Award: -, Deadline: None

Applicant must be a veteran with an honorable discharge from the military and have a compensable disability, which is connected to military service. Disability must be rated by the VA as 20% or higher. In certain limited cases, a disability with a lower VA rating may qualify. Applicant is evaluated to determine the need for services and develop a specific plan of services. Selection is based upon their need for vocational rehabilitation services. VA form 28-1900 must be submitted to the nearest VA regional office.

Applicant must be planning to attend a previously unattended college or university. Scholarship is awarded through random drawings to give each applicant an equal chance of winning. Award must be used within five years of receiving the money.

 

Selected Reserve Montgomery GI Bill (MBIB)

Applicant must enlist in the Army Reserve for six years. Award is up to $282 per month for up to 36 academic months.

 

University of Nevada at Reno General Scholarship

Award: $15,000, Deadline: February 1

Selection based upon academic merit.

 

Annual Writing Competition

Applicant must submit a manuscript.

Scholarship Incentive

Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and be enrolled full-time in an institution in Delaware or Pennsylvania. Applicants from other states may be considered if pursuing a major that is not offered in Delaware.

 

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship

Award: $30,000, Deadline: November (first week)

Applicant must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States who is in the early stages of graduate study in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Eligibility is limited to applicants who have completed no more than 12 months of post-baccalaureate, full-time graduate study at the time of their application. Award is for up to three years over a five year period.

 

Tuition Exchange Scholarship

Applicant must be a family member or dependent of an employee at one of the approximately 625 participating Tuition Exchange colleges and universities.

 

Short Short Story Competition

Applicant must write a piece of fiction in 1,500 words or less.

 

FEEA Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 28

Applicant must have been a civilian federal employee for at least three years or be the legal dependent of one. Selection is based upon merit.

 

Higher Education Grant

Award: $1,600, Deadline: October 1

Applicant must have CDIB, Tribal Membership cards, and be able to show Choctaw descent. Applicant must be working toward a degree and demonstrate financial need.

 

Choctaw Nation Higher Education Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: October 1 (fall); March 1 (spring)

Applicant must be of Choctaw descent and be able to show proof with CDIB and Tribal Member cards. Applicant must be attending a college or university working toward a minimum of an associates degree.

 

Full Circle Scholarship Program

Award: $15,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicants must be an enrolled member of a federal or state recognized American Indian Tribe, or have a parent or grandparent who is an enrolled tribal member. Full-time enrollment at an accredited tribal, public or private (non-profit) college or university is also required.

 

General Scholarship

Award: $2,700, Deadline: January 15

Selection is based upon academic performance, SAT I or ACT scores (freshmen only), extracurricular involvement, faculty recommendations (junior, senior, and graduate students), and writing ability and creativity, as demonstrated in statement of career aspirations and scholarship essay.

 

University of British Columbia Bursary

Selection is based upon financial need. Award is in Canadian dollars.

 

James W. Colgan Loan

AMBUCS Scholars-Scholarships for Therapists

Applicant must be accepted into an accredited program by the appropriate health therapy profession authority in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, and hearing audiology.

 

Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest

Award: $20,000, Deadline: April 28

Applicant must be a high school senior, a college/university undergraduate student or a graduate student. Essay must be between 800 and 1,600 words in length (double-spaced). Only one entry per applicant will be accepted. Contest is open worldwide. No application is required.

 

International Self-Published Book Awards

The competition is open to all English-language self-published books for which the authors have paid the full cost of publication, or the cost of printing has been paid for by a grant or as part of a prize. There is a $100 entry/judging fee for your first work and $50 for each additional submission.

 

MESBEC Scholarship

Applicant must be at least one-quarter Native American and be an enrolled member of a U.S. tribe that is federally recognized, state-recognized, or terminated, with high GPA and test scores and be enrolled in an accredited college or university.
