Fund for American Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 15 (summer); July 31 (fall); November 15 (spring)

Applicant must plan to attend one of three seven-week summer institutes or 16-week semester institute.

 

Frederick Burkhardt Residential Fellowship for Recently Tenured Students

Award: $75,000, Deadline: October 2

Applicant must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Award is intended to support an academic year of residence at any national residential research centers. Program encourages exchanges across disciplinary lines that can be especially helpful to deepening and expanding the significance of projects in the humanities and related social sciences. Applications must be submitted through the ACLS Online Fellowship Application system (OFA). OFA is accessible through the Fellowship and Grant Programs section of the web site.

 

Ellis W. Hawley Prize

Award: $500, Deadline: October 1

Awarded for the best book-length historical study or dissertation on the political economy, politics, or institutions of the U.S., concerning its domestic or international affairs from the Civil War to the present.

 

AIAA Graduate Award

Award: $5,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must have completed a minimum of one semester of full-time graduate study with a GPA of no less than the equivalent of a 3.3. Applicant must intend to enter into some field of science or engineering encompassed by the technical activities of AIAA. Selection is based upon scholarship, research plan, career goals, recommendations, and extracurricular activities. Upon receipt of award, recipient must become an AIAA member.

 

Department of National Defense Security and Defense Forum (The Forum)/Ph.D. Scholarship

Award: $20,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and hold a master's degree prior to award. Preference given to applicants at the dissertation stage, when course work is completed. Knowledge of both official languages required.

 

Department of National Defense Security and Defense Forum (The Forum)/M.A. Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be Canadian citizen or permanent resident and hold an honors bachelor's degree or equivalent prior to award. Knowledge of both official languages required.

 

Department of National Defense Security and Defense Forum (The Forum)/Internship Program

Award: $35,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and hold a master's degree prior to award. Knowledge of both official languages required. Award is to assist recent M.A. graduates in obtaining work experience in security and defense studies by working for a year in this field in the non-governmental or private sectors. Internship must be related to current and future Canadian national security and defense issues, including their political, international, historical, social, military, industrial, and economic dimensions.

 

Richard A. Wiebe Public Service Fellowship

Award: $33,000, Deadline: April 28

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and enrolled full-time in an accredited program. Recipient will be placed in the Majority Counsel/Program Services Office.

 

Department of National Defense Security and Defense Forum (The Forum)/R.B. Byers Post-Doctoral Fellowship

Award: $35,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who holds a Ph.D. or equivalent. Knowledge of both official languages required. Applicants who hold a tenure-track appointment at any level are not eligible.

 

Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen with a career interest in government service. Transcripts, letter of recommendation, essay, and standardized test scores are required to be submitted. Recipient will receive an all expenses paid weekend, including transportation and housing in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to attend the Scholarship Awards Ceremony (which is required to attend in order to receive their scholarship).

 

Hubert H. Humphrey Doctoral Fellowship in Arms Control, Nonproliferation, and Disarmament

Award: $14,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national of the U.S. and by the date fellowship begins, will have completed academic requirements for the doctorate, except for dissertation, at a U.S. college or university and whose dissertation proposal has been approved by the school. J.D. candidates may apply if the proposed research project will represent a substantial amount of credit toward third-year requirements and will result in a paper that would be appropriate for publication. Applicant must submit dissertation or J.D. research proposal describing the topic, the ressearch design, research methodology, and relevance to arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament issues and policies, a bibliography, official graduate school transcripts, a signed statement of approval of the proposal from applicant's research/dissertation advisor, and evaluations from three academic references.

 

Bruce B. Melchert Scholarship

Award: $575, Deadline: May 18

Applicant must be a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon who is a full-time student and has a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Applicant should demonstrate leadership within his chapter as a rush chairman, Prytanis, or other major office, be a leader in IFC or other campus organizations, and plan to serve people in a political or governmental service position.

 

ARS Graduate Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be of Armenian ancestry. Selection is based upon scholastic qualifications, financial need, and involvement in the Armenian community.

 

Bruce B. Melchert Scholarship

Award: $350, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be an active member of Tau Kappa Epsilon pursuing an undergraduate degree in government or political science. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Health Research Training Program

Award: -, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a New York City resident who is attending a metropolitan New York City school. The program offers internships in public health research, community outreach and education, fieldwork, laboratory work and administration to all college undergraduates, graduate, and professional school students.

 

Robert R. Robinson Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a junior, senior, or graduate student enrolled in a Michigan college or university who is pursuing a degree in public administration and considering a career in local government administration. Recipient will be selected from nominees submitted by a Michigan township board that is a member of good standing in the Michigan Townships Association.

 

Orville and Wilbur Wright Graduate Award

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a graduate-level student participating in a research endeavor as part of their engineering/science graduate studies; endeavors should include master's or doctoral thesis research and master's (non-thesis option) research projects.

 

Political Science Scholarship

Applicant must be enrolled at the University of Missouri at Columbia.

 

William E. Adams Memorial Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 14

Applicant must be a full-time student at Eastern Illinois University minoring in pre-law (or majoring if History, if pre-law is not an option). Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Patricia Collins Amaral Memorial Fund

Award: $600, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

 

Alumni Association Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee. Applicant must have completed 12 credits last semester and 24 credits at Bridgewater State College as of December 31. Applicants who have transferred from Massachusetts Community Colleges, Dean College, or Quincy College are eligible to apply.

 

College of Business, Information, and Social Sciences Dean's Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and a minimum SAT reading and math combined score of 1200 (composite ACT score of 26). Three recommendations and a 1,000-word essay describing the applicant's professional and personal long-range goals are required.

Applicant must be a female undergraduate student who has successfully completed at least two years of college course work and is majoring in political science, government or economics.

 

Cecil E. Burney Scholarship

Applicant must be a high school senior or graduate of a Coastal Bend high school pursuing a liberal arts degree with a major in history, political science, music, or education at one of the following schools: Coastal Bend College, Del Mar College, Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi, or Texas A&M University - Kingsville. Minimum 3.5 GPA required.
