Archaeology of Portugal Fellowship

Applicant must be a doctoral or other post-graduate student with an interest in the archaeology of Portugal. International scholars are invited to apply. Fellowship is to support projects pertaining to the archaeology of Portugal. These include, but are not limited to research projects, colloquia, symposia, publication, and travel for research or to academic meetings for the purpose of presenting papers on the archaeology of Portugal

 

NTA Dave Herren Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicants should be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S., who is a full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a travel-and-tourism- or hospitality-related program of study at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S. entering junior year or senior year at a four-year school in the fall of the calendar year of application, with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Applicants from a two-year school will have completed 30 credit hours by the end of this semester or term. Applicants from a four-year school entering junior or senior year will have completed a minimum of 60 or 90 credit hours respectively by the end of this semester or term. A graduate student may be entering any year of graduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application. For a complete application, applicant needs to submit a U.S. passport as proof of citizenship, or U.S. Alien Registration Card as proof of permanent residency, resume, official transcript, two evaluations and letters of recommendation (one academic and one professional), and an essay. Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship

Applicant must be resident of Canada who is a graduate of a Canadian university with a minimum standard of "A-" (3.5 GPA or higher) and meet the citizenship requirements of the awarding country. Applicants looking to apply in specific fields must not only are advised to take certain tests, but will also have to provide specific work as well. Selection is based upon academic merit, plan of study, personal objective, and extra-curricular achievements/accomplishments. Online applications must be submitted in addition to supporting documents for each country to which the applicant is applying. The only Commonwealth countries offering awards are India, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

 

Education Matters Scholarship

Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident who is a student 13 years of age or older, and is currently enrolled (or planning to enroll) at an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Online short written response to the question, "What would you say to someone who thinks education doesn't matter, or that college is a waste of time and money" is required. Licensed Mental Health Services Provider Educational Program

Award: $15,000, Deadline: n/a

Applicant must be a licensed mental health service provider who holds a full and unrestricted license to practice in California or are registered Marriage and Family Therapist or Clinical Social Worker in good standing. Program eligibility includes health-related work experience in a MHPSA or qualified facility and have received significant training in cultural and linguistic competence. Selection is also based upon professional goals for the next five to ten years, community background, and community service. Scholarship encourages licensed mental health service providers to practice in a mental health professional shortage area or qualify in California by authorizing a plan for repayment of their educational loans in exchange for their service in a designated shortage area for a minimum of two years. Program pays up to $15,000 in outstanding government or commercial educational loans for expenses incurred for their mental health service provider education.

 

Steven M. Thompson Physician Corps Loan Repayment Program

Symantec Graduate Fellowship

Applicant must be a senior in college or graduate student attending a U.S. university in a Ph.D. or master's program focused on technology research. Preference will be given to students with a desire to work in an industrial research lab and those working on research projects likely to have real-world practical value to customers, in areas related to Symantec's businesses of information security, availability, and integrity. Application form including a personal statement of research interests (not to exceed 500 words) and three letters of recommendation are required.

 

The World is My Parish United Methodist History Research Grant

Award enables the collection of written and oral history and encourages research regarding the development of The United Methodist Church and its antecedents in any of the conferences not in the United States. Please note that these monies are not scholarships to defray the costs of attending school; prizes are for scholarly papers submitted and for specific research projects examining the history of The United Methodist Church or its antecedents.

 

Google Scholarship Program

Award: $10,000, Deadline: February 16

Applicant must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent who is a junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student studying full-time in the United States or Puerto Rico pursuing a degree in computer science or computer engineering in the upcoming academic year. Financial need is required. Selected recipients will be invited to an all-expenses paid trip to the Google Headquarters located in California for the upcoming spring.

 

Nico van Wingen Memorial Graduate Fellowship in Petroleum Engineering

Award: $5,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must be a member of an official SPE Student Chapter and be at the Ph.D. level intending to pursue a career in academia. Nomination, application, statement of purpose, official transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and resume are required.

 

ISF Scholarship

Applicant must be Muslim or an active member of the Muslim community who is enrolled at an accredited university as an undergraduate (sophomore, junior, or senior) or graduate student (including Ph.D.) in the United States who is majoring in one of the sponsor's supported majors as found on their website. Minimum 3.0 GPA and United States citizenship/permanent residence required.

HSF/General College Scholarship Program

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and plan to enroll as a full-time student in a degree seeking program at a two- or four-year accredited institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam during the upcoming academic year. FAFSA is required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

ASTA Holland America Line Graduate Research Scholarship

Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of any country who is a full-time or part-time graduate student conducting research on a topic with a tourism focus, who can demonstrate a clear focus on and commitment to the tourism-subject area, enrolled an accredited four-year college or university, and entering any year of graduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application at a college or university in the United States or Canada, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Online application, passport as proof of citizenship, resume, letter of recommendation from academic or research advisor, Graduate Research Faculty Advisor Confirmation Form, Research Proposal, and Reflection Essay are required to be submitted. Five page research proposal which includes: the purpose or problem statement, hypothesis (if appropriate), objectives, scope, brief literature review, methodology, and applicability of results. The following are suggested research topics of interest (but are not limited to those on this list): overcoming consumers? objections to purchasing a cruise; how travel agents could market to adventure and special interest travel buyers; the future composition of the travel agency distribution channel and suggested strategies for retailers and suppliers; and consolidation as a survival strategy and possible productive partnerships with non-traditional organizations inside and outside the travel industry. All topics submitted to Tourism Cares will be considered for their relevance to the tourism industry. ASTA David J. Hallissey Memorial Internship

Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of any country, who is a full-time or part-time undergraduate, or full-time or part-time graduate student, pursuing a marketing degree with an interest in marketing research and also an interest in travel and tourism (preferred but not required); or a travel and tourism degree with an interest in marketing research as it relates to marketing (preferred but not required) at a college or university in the United States with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Applicant will be enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university, and will be entering sophomore year in the fall of the calendar year of application; or enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university, and will be entering junior year in the fall of the calendar year of application; or enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university, and will be entering senior year in the fall of the calendar year of application; or enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university, and entering any year of graduate study in the fall of the calendar year of application. Publications Subvention Grant

Applicant must be writing a book-length publication in the field of classical archaeology. Particularly welcome are works of new authors, or the publication of already excavated or surveyed materials that have not yet been published. Nominations for this grant should be submitted by eligible non-profit publishers (such as university or museum presses).

 

DAI/AIA Fellowship for Study in the United States

Award: $5,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must be a member of the German Archaeological Institute (DAI). Fellowship supports a two to three month stay in the spring at the University of Cincinnati, the Cotsen Institute at UCLA, or the Joukowsky Institute at Brown University.

 

Health Professions Education Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP)

GBAA Aviation Scholarships

Applicant must be a Georgia high school graduate (or have a GED equivalent from an accredited Georgia school or Home School Program) who is enrolled as a full-time student or has been accepted as a full-time student into an accredited/FAA-approved college program pursuing an aviation-related certificate or undergraduate or graduate degree in the fields of flight technology, aviation maintenance technology, aviation operations, aviation management, or aeronautical engineering (applicants in other aviation disciplines will be considered). Completed application, 500-1,000 word essay, and one letter of recommendation from a school official or other advisor/mentor are required to be submitted. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required (both high school and college, if applicable).

 

The MITIO Foundation Scholarship

Applicant must be a high school senior or college student who is bilingual in English and another language (fully fluent in each). Letter of acceptance (or enrollment), application to provide verification of degree field related to healthcare, proof of proficiency in English and another language, and 500-word essay are required. Applicant must hold at least a bachelor's degree in geoscience, engineering, physics, chemistry, computer science, math, or geography. Applicant must be able to demonstrate a history of academic excellence and native fluency in Arabic, demonstrate English proficiency, exhibit exceptional leadership skills and cultural competency, be willing and able to travel to a regional location for a final selection activity, and be willing and able to reside in the United States for the full duration of study.
