Applicants must be employed at an Ohio child care center that has been given a one-, two- or three-star rating through the Step Up to Quality initiative. They must have held their position at the center for at least a year and must work there for 30 or more hours per week. They must earn less than $15 per hour and be enrolled in or planning to enroll in an associate's degree program in early childhood education. Scholarship recipients must agree to stay with the program for at least one year after winning the award. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.
