Scholarships in High School Senior

Reginald Keith Edmond II Scholarship Fund

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a high school within the Riverside Unified School District who is currently participating in a team sport and who plans to attend a two- or four-year college/university as a full-time student. Minimum 2.5 GPA, financial need, and community/school involvement must be demonstrated. Recipient must be able to attend the Reginald Keith Edmond II Walk-a-thon program on April 7.

 

Riverside Construction Company Harmon/Lounsbury Scholarship Fund

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 2

Applicant must be a high school senior who is planning to attend a college or university as a full-time student and major in engineering (priority will be given to construction or civil engineering). Minimum 3.0 GPA, financial need, and community/school involvement must be demonstrated.

 

California Retired Teachers Association Division 55 Bessie Scott Scholarship Fund

Award: $500, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Mendocino County public high school senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university to study education. Selection is based upon ability and aptitude for a teaching career, prior academic performance, and community and/or extracurricular activities.

 

California Retired Teachers Association Division 55 Hilmer Finne Scholarship Fund

Award: $500, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Mendocino County public high school senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university to pursue a career in music. Selection based upon commitment to music, proven talent, and positive outlook; prior academic performance; and community and/or extracurricular involvement.

 

Alma and August Mendosa Scholarship Fund

Award: $4,000, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Mendocino high school senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university. Selection is based upon potential for academic success, financial need, and community and/or extracurricular activities.

 

Jerry Juhl Fund for the Arts

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Mendocino, Fort Bragg, or Point Area high school senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university and study the performing arts, including music, dance, theatre, film, and puppetry. Selection based upon potential for career success in the performing arts and their prior academic performance. Minimum 3.0 GPA is desired, but not required.

Award: $2,500, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Laytonville High School senior who plans to attend a vocational school, community college, or four-year college/university. Selection based upon prior academic performance, potential for academic success, and community service. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Jonathan Family Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Laytonville High School senior who plans to attend a vocational school, community college, or four-year college/university. Selection based upon financial need; their qualities of diligence, perseverance, and selflessness; and desire to pursue studies in music, art, architecture, building construction and/or design.

 

Ryan & Collin Petitte Memorial Scholarship Fund

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Ukiah-area high school senior who is interested in attending a vocational school, community college, or four-year college/university. Selection is based upon their strong family bond and sense of humor; their interest in pursuing a career in wildlife conservation, environmental resource management or economics; their community or school activities (including hobbies, interests, and non-traditional activities); and financial need.

 

David Joseph Talamo Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Ukiah High School senior who plans to attend a vocational school, community college, or four-year college/university. Selection based upon sense of humor and love of family; for their participation in organized sports throughout high school; and for prior academic performance. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Tom Goforth Scholarship Fund

Award: $1,500, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Ukiah High School senior who plans to attend Mendocino College. Selection is based upon prior academic performance, involvement in the golf team and/or a desire to pursue a career in nursing, and financial need. Minimum 3.0 GPA is required.

 

Warren 'Ed' Brown Scholarship Fund

Award: $4,000, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Ukiah High School senior who would like to pursue a career in mathematics or engineering. Minimum 3.5 and financial need are required.

 

Viola L. Allen and Oscar A. Allen Scholarship Fund

Award: $4,000, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a female Ukiah High School senior or graduate with serious interest in pursuing a career in the medical field. Selection based upon financial need and prior academic achievement.

 

Dr. Charles O. and Harriett C. Smith Memorial Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Fund

Award: $500, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Willits High School senior who plans to attend a four-year college or university. Selection based upon prior academic performance, community/extracurricular involvement, and solid work ethic. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Randy Clark Memorial Vocational Scholarship Fund

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 13

Applicant must be a Willits High School senior or graduate who plans to pursue vocational education at trade schools or community colleges. Selection based upon membership in Future Farmers of America or 4H Club (of at least one year), potential for career success, and financial need.

 

Epperly Family Fund

Award: $500, Deadline: February 6

Applicant must be an Eastern Montgomery High School student who is pursuing education at a college, university, or post-secondary vocational school. Financial need is required. Preference will be given to students employed while in high school.

 

Juanita Shelor Hall Memorial Scholarship Fund

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 6

Applicant must be an Auburn High School student who who plans to pursue an undergraduate degree in business or education. Financial need is required.

 

Diana Love Legacy Instrumental Music Scholarship Fund

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 6

Applicant must be a student in the Blacksburg High School band who plans to pursue a career in instrumental music. Financial need and dedication to high school symphonic/marching bands and musicianship are required to be demonstrated.

 

Marie Mandelstamm Scholarship Fund

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 6

Applicant must be a student at one of the following high schools: Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Eastern Montgomery, or Radford. Applicant must be pursuing a post-secondary degree in the sciences to include math, engineering, biology, and computers. Financial aid and minimum 3.0 GPA are required.

 

Mary Ann King Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 6

Applicant must be a student at Floyd County High School who is a member of the Floyd County girls basketball team. Financial need is required.

 

R.H. Beel Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Santa Cruz High School. Financial need, high academic achievement, and history of service activities or volunteer work are required to be demonstrated.

 

Ernest V. Cowell Scholarship

Award: $1,300, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a high school in the Santa Cruz City School District who plans to attend a University of California campus in the fall following graduation. Financial need is required.

 

Emmett and Elsie Geiser Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Watsonville, Aptos, or Pajaro Valley High Schools who has lettered in at least one sport. Minimum 3.0 GPA in college preparatory classes and one letter of recommendation from the school's scholarship committee, athletic director or athletic coach stating the applicant's athletic and academic achievements are required.

 

Louis J. and Mary Ellen Schultz Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a graduate of or a current graduating senior from a high school in Santa Cruz County who is a or will be a full-time student at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational school in the fall following graduation. Financial need is required.

 

John L. Turner Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Watsonville High School who plans to enroll at a two- or four-year college, university, or vocational school in the fall following graduation. Financial need and minimum 2.0 GPA are required.

 

Dan Wood Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a high school in the Santa Cruz City School district. Financial need, minimum 3.0 GPA, and history of services activities/volunteer work must be demonstrated.

 

Live Out Loud Young Scholars Program

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 8

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in the tri-state area (New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey) who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender and has shown exceptional leadership, courage, and achievement. Selection based upon leadership and community service involvement. Application, two essays, six short essays, and two letters of recommendation are required to be submitted.

Applicant must have graduated from a Walla Walla County high school, received a GED or been home-schooled in Walla Walla County or been a resident of Walla Walla County for at least three years. Financial need, official transcripts, FAFSA and IRS Form 1040 required.
