Scholarships in College Junior

Academic Scholarship

Award: $16,600, Deadline: December 31

Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA and a minimum combined SAT I score of 1050. Award is to be used for Coll of Notre Dame of Maryland-sponsored study abroad programs.

 

Oneida Higher Education Grant

Award: $20,000, Deadline: April 15 (fall); October 1 (spring); May 1 (summer)

Applicant must be an enrolled member of the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin.

 

CHCI Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 16

Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident who is enrolled full-time at an accredited community college, four-year university, or graduate/professional program during the period for which the scholarship is requested. Applicant must be able to demonstrate financial need and consistent, active participation in public and/or community service activities. Strong writing skills are required.

 

Endowed Scholarship

Ohio Newspapers Foundation Douthit Award

Award: $1,500, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a graduate from a high school in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Huron, Erie, Wood, Geauga, Sandusky, Ottawa, or Lucas Counties who is enrolled as a sophomore, junior, or senior at an Ohio college or university. Applicant must be majoring in a field relevant to the newspaper industry, particularly journalism, advertising, marketing, or a communications degree program. Minimum 3.0 GPA and college transcript required.

 

Foundation Scholarship

Award: $600, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a Missouri resident who has been accepted to or currently enrolled in an American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE)-accredited program with at least one term remaining after award date.

 

National Student Design Competition

Award: $12,000, Deadline: December 21

Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate industrial design student enrolled in a degree program at any college/university in the United States. Applicant must design a houseware product that meets a current consumer need or create a concept for a future product.

 

Washington National Guard Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a Washington resident and enlisted active/participating member of the Washington National Guard who is in good standing, is an Enlisted, Warrant, or commissioned officer below Major, earns a minimum of 50 retirement points per year, has completed initial training requirements, and has completed at least one year in the National Guard and has a minimum of two years remaining on current contract. Applicant must have attended a school in Washington and be working towards a degree or certificate and have a minimum 2.5 GPA (minimum 3.0 GPA for graduate students). Recipient must agree to remain an active/participating member in the Washington National Guard for one additional year of service for each year of award. Applicants in Inactive National Guard service are not eligible for award. Prior to July 1, 2007, applicants must have attened a school accredited by the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities.

 

Melbourne and Alice E. Frontjes Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must have been a resident of Kent County, Mich., for at least three years, have a minimum 2.75 GPA. Selection is based upon academic achievement, extracurricular activities, personal statement, and financial need.

 

Hualapai Tribal Higher Education Grant

Award: $8,500, Deadline: July 1 (fall); November 1 (spring); April 1 (summer)

Applicant must be an enrolled member of the Hualapai Tribe and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester. Priority given first to continuing students in good standing, then to incoming freshmen, then to adults who have never attended college.

 

Bureau of Indian Affairs/Tribal Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: June 1 (fall); November 15 (spring); March 1 (summer)

Applicant must be an enrolled or non-enrolled member of the Arapahoe tribe or provide verification of Indian blood from Bureau of Indian Affairs. Applicant must be eligible for a PELL Grant.

 

Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a music degree candidate who is a member of The United Methodist church for at least one year and who is intending to pursue a career in sacred music, either entering as a freshman or already enrolled in an accredited university, college, or school of theology.

 

2014 CIC/Anna Chennault Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 9

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who has been accepted to a college or a currently enrolled college student in the United States. AAJA membership is not required for the application but if selected, the applicant must sign up for student membership. Proof of college acceptance and commitment to AAJA's mission are required.

 

Joseph Towner Fund for Gay and Lesbian Families

Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 30

Applicant must be the child of a lesbian or gay parent who resides in one of the following nine Bay Area counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Napa, Sonoma, and Solano. Applicant must be 25 years of age or younger, have a minimum 2.5 GPA or GED certificate, if applicable, be enrolled in an accredited postsecondary institution, and carry a full-time academic work load (minimum 12 units per term). Application form, transcripts, and essay required.

 

Vincent Chin Scholarship

Ken Inouye Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of Los Angeles, Ventura, or Orange Counties, California, or enrolled in an institution in Los Angeles, Ventura, or Orange Counties. Applicant must be a member of an ethnic minority. Selection based upon accomplishments, potential, and financial need.

C.J. Davidson Scholarship

Applicant must be a Texas resident and Texas high school graduate, have a minimum grade average of 85, and have completed at least one year of family/consumer science or home economics in high school. Applicant must have been an active member of an affiliated chapter of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) for at least two years, and enroll in an accredited Texas college or university. Essay on topic of applicant's choice relating to home economics or FCCLA required.

 

South Carolina Legislative Incentives for Future Excellence (LIFE) Scholarship

For the four-year institution award, applicant must be a full-time student who is a resident of South Carolina with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and who ranks in the top third of their graduating class. Minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1100 (composite ACT score of 24) required. For the two-year institution award, applicant must be a full-time student who is a resident of South Carolina with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA based on the South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy. Applicant must not owe a refund or repayment on any State or Federal financial aid and not be in default on a Federal student loan; must have never been convicted of any felonies and have not been convicted of any second or subsequent alcohol/drug-related misdemeanor offenses within the past academic year.

 

Rita Jackson Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a single, disabled woman who qualifies for Colorado in-state tuition and exhibits financial need. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA, a minimum 2.5 college/university GPA, or a minimum 3.0 graduate level GPA. Applicants who are employed or do community volunteer work are preferred.

 

Bodenhamer Fellowship

Applicant must have a minimum composite ACT score of 32 (combined SAT I score of 1420) or be a National Merit Finalist or semifinalist and demonstrate strong academic performance and leadership.

 

Past Presidents Scholarship

Applicant must be a woman with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicant must be in an ABET-accredited engineering program, engineering at SWE-approved colleges and universities, or computer science in a CSAB-accredited program or at an ABET-accredited or SWE-approved institution.

 

Ford Motor Company Scholarship

Applicant must be a domestic or international student from an under-represented background and demonstrate financial need. Applicant must have a minimum 500 GMAT score.

 

Boyer Fellowship

Applicant must be an Arkansas high school graduate, have a minimum 3.5 GPA and minimum composite ACT score of 30 (combined SAT I score of 1320), be a National Merit Finalist or Semifinalist, demonstrate financial need and strong leadership, and select a major in the Sam Walton College of Business Administration.
