Bill Farr Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: July 8

Applicant must be a resident of Los Angeles, Ventura, or Orange Counties, California, or enrolled in an institution in Los Angeles, Ventura, or Orange Counties. Selection based upon accomplishments, potential, and financial need.

 

Walt Bartram Memorial Education Award (Region 12 & Chapter 119)

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who commits to enroll in or who already is enrolled as a full-time college or university student pursuing a degree in manufacturing engineering or a closely related field within the areas of New Mexico, Arizona, or Southern California. Applicant must be a resident of one of those states and be a current SME Chapter member (with the exception of high school students who may apply without any SME member relationship). A minimum 3.5 GPA is required.

 

Adelante Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a Latina/Latino, from Ventura County, who demonstrates financial need.

 

Orfalea Migrant Education Scholarship Award

Award: $1,700, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must meet one of the following criteria: be an incoming sophomore, junior, or senior who participated in CAMP (College Assistance Migrant Program) during their freshman year at a participating CSU or community college; be a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior who participated in the Migrant Education program at a Ventura County high school; be an incoming graduate student who participated in CAMP or the Migrant Education Program.

 

Ryan Orfalea Scholarship

Award: $3,500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or high school graduate from schools in the Ventura County who plan to attend full-time at an approved vocational school, community college, or four-year university/college. Applicant must be the son or daughter, legally dependent step child, or ward of a regular full-time employee based at a Kinko's corporate office in Ventura County. The employee must have completed a minimum of three years eligible employment prior to December 31, 1996.

 

Margaret A. Tompkins Oxnard Monday Club Scholarship

Award: $600, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or high school graduate who is a female and resident of Oxnard, CA. Applicant must be intending to enroll or is currently enrolled at an accredited junior college, college, or university with a minimum 3.5 GPA. Preference is given to business and science majors.

 

Armando and Lourdes Lopez Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior with a minimum GPA of 2.0, who is planning to attend Oxnard College. Applicant must demonstrate financial need and be a child of a farm worker.

 

Mackenzie Family Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior from Port Hueneme, Oxnard, Camarillo, or Ventura, CA, who is enrolling at a community college, has a minimum 3.0 GPA, and is able to demonstrate participation in high school sports.

 

Orfalea Scholarship Award

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or Ventura County high school graduate enrolling or already enrolled at an accredited vocational school, community college, or four-year college or university. Applicant must be an early childhood education or teaching major, or any major provided applicant is able to meet at least one of the following requirements: has a documented learning difference/is a non-traditional learner; is under 24 years of age and has a parent employed as a nurse, teacher (pre-K to grade 12), or at a non-profit agency; is under the age of 24 and is the child of a single parent; has completed the Montana Yellowstone Expedition Summer Program.

 

Orfalea Health Field Scholarship Award

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a Ventura County high school senior or graduate enrolling or already enrolled at an accredited vocational school, community college, or four-year university in a health-related field. Essay is required and it must specify intent to practice in Ventura County upon completion of studies.

 

Bernice Barnard Music Education Scholarship

Award: $575, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be from the city of San Buenaventura or Ojai and have attended a Ventura or Ojai area high school or college. Interest and involvement in music in recommendation letters and essay must be shown.

 

Bob Benedetto Memorial Scholarship Fund for Social Workers

Award: $500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or community college student in Ventura County with a minimum 3.5 GPA, who is intending to enroll in a four-year accredited college or university for an undergraduate degree. Essay that explains applicant's college objectives and desired future achievements is required.

 

Mike Frick Memorial Baseball Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in the baseball program who is going to continue to play baseball in college. Applicant must graduate from a public high school in the city of Ventura and be able to demonstrate year round dedication to the game of baseball with an exemplary attitude towards teammates and coaches.

 

Michael A. DiRaimondo Foundation Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a Southern California resident (preference for those in Ventura County) who has received an EMT certificate and intends to enroll as a candidate for a Paramedic Training Certificate at an accredited training institution, college, or university in the counties of Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, or San Diego.

 

Robert M. Duncan Foundation Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a sophomore, junior, or senior at a community college, private college, or university of California in Southern California with a minimum 3.5 GPA in at least two courses of Economics, United States History, and/or American Economic History.

 

Finch Family Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a student enrolling at an accredited college, university, trade school, or community college with a minimum 3.2 GPA. Applicant must be the child of an employee or contractor of Finch Ranches or a resident of the town of Piru. If applicant is related to an employee of Finch Ranches, they must include a signed and dated reference letter stating the affiliation with application form.

 

Finck Family Charitable Fund Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or community college student in Ventura County with a 3.0 GPA, who is intending to enroll for a degree in education, health-related studies, or social services at an accredited college, university, or vocational school.

 

HSF/Cien Anos Scholarship Program

Award: $10,000, Deadline: May 15

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage and at least 21 years of age by April 15. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and plan to enroll as a full-time student in a degree seeking program at a two- or four-year accredited institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam during the upcoming academic year. FAFSA is required.

 

HSF/HSBC-North America Scholarship Program

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage and enrolled as a full-time student in a degree-seeking program at an accredited college or university in the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam with a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Applicant must be a current undergraduate sophomore or a current community college student who is planning on transferring to a four-year college or university; thus having junior status in the upcoming academic school year. Resume and FAFSA are required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

 

HSF/Nissan Community College Transfer Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must be currently enrolled at a community college with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have plans to transfer and enroll as a full-time student pursuing a degree in business, engineering, communications, or media arts at a four-year accredited institution. FAFSA is required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

 

HSF/Procter & Gamble Company Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: February 28

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have plans to enroll as a full-time student in a degree-seeking program at an accredited institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam during the upcoming academic year. FAFSA is required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.
