Larry Temple Scholarship

Award: $7,000, Deadline: December 1

Preference is given to an applicant majoring in liberal arts, fine arts, or social work, and to Texas residents.

 

Student Loan Program for Health, Science, & Mathematics

Award: $8,500, Deadline: February

Applicant must be a resident of North Carolina and demonstrate financial need.

 

Virginia Valk Fehsenfeld Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a resident of Kent County, Mich., have a minimum 3.4 GPA. Selection is based upon academic achievement, extracurricular activities, personal statement, and financial need.

 

Elderhostel K. Patricia Cross Doctoral Research Grant

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a doctoral student researching topics relevant to aging and later-life learning. Graduate students whose research focuses on topics relevant to Elderhostel or later-life learning are also encourage to apply.

 

Elizabeth J. Davis Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont who will pursue a degree in licensed practical nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, registered nursing, speech language pathology, or social work at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Financial need and intent to work in Vermont for two years must be demonstrated.

 

Wexner Graduate Fellowship

Award: $30,000, Deadline: January 20

Applicant must be attending an accredited, full-time program and sign a statement indicating that he or she plans to pursue a career in North America in his or her designated field. Applicant may not have begun their graduate studies prior to applying. Two essays and three references are required to be submitted.

 

Trinity College of Vermont Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont pursuing a degree in social work or education at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Financial need, community involvement/service and a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required.

 

Fellowship on Women and Public Policy

Award: $9,000, Deadline: September 1

Applicant must be enrolled at a college or university in New York state, have completed at least 12 hours of graduate work, and demonstrate interest in improving the status of women through studies, research, employment, or volunteer work. Fellowship includes work at the Center for Women in Government & Civil Society and at either the New York state legislature, a state agency, or a statewide advocacy organization in Albany, N.Y.

 

JCC Association Graduate Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be committed to working in a Jewish Community Center full time for two years. Applicant must seek a master's degree in an area leading to professional careers in JCCs or affiliated agencies.

 

Robert W. Woodruff Graduate Program and Internship Fellowship

Award: $15,000, Deadline: June 15

Applicant must be accepted into an accredited graduate degree program. Recipients must make a two-year commitment to be employed full time at a Boys & Girls Club.

 

Margaret Freeman Bowers Fellowship

Award: $8,000, Deadline: Early January

Applicant must be a woman and a graduate of Wellesley Coll who is planning for her first year of full-time graduate study in the field of law, public policy/public administration, or social work, including M.Bus.Admin. candidates planning a career in social services. Selection is based upon merit and financial need. Preference is given to applicants who have not previously held the award.

 

National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Vermont Chapter Gilman Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: March 9

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont enrolled in a CSWE-accredited BSW, MSW, or DSW/PhD program at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Financial need, academic achievement and community service must be demonstrated.

 

M. Brenn Green Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a first-time freshman who is majoring in one of the following areas: anthropology, criminal justice, economics, geography, health administration, political science, social psychology, social work, or sociology.

 

Larry and Elizabeth Gates Scholarship

Award: $800, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be seeking a bachelor's degree, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be of good character, and demonstrate financial need.

 

Pensacola Charity Volunteers Bea Grow Memorial Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: None

Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 GPA who is pursuing a degree program. Financial need is required.

 

George E. Meares Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 30

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen. The present emphasis is in probation and parole, and it may include related correctional services.

 

The Native American Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: June 15

Applicant must be an enrolled tribal member who plans on working with a tribe or nation in the field of education or social service. Applicant must be accepted or already enrolled in an undergraduate program and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference is given to applicants entering his/her junior year. Financial need is considered.

 

Ruth Taylor Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 15

Applicant must be a legal resident of the United States and Westchester County who is enrolled in graduate studies in social work or public health as a full-time student.

 

Mildred Cater Bradham Social Work Fellowship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a member of Zeta Phi Beta sorority, must be a full-time degree-seeking student at an accredited college, and must submit three letters of recommendation, transcript, 150-word essay, and documentation of academic study.

 

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Fellowship Program

Award: -, Deadline: February 28

Applicant must be a social worker with a masters degree who is preparing for leadership, teaching, consulting, training, policy development, and administration in mental health and substance abuse with ethnic minorities.

 

Graduate and Professional Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a Maryland resident who demonstrates financial need. Applicant must be degree-seeking, either full-time or part-time and attend one of the eligible institutions.

 

Janet L. Hoffman Loan Assistance Repayment Program

Award: $30,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must graduate from a college in Maryland or from a law school and be employed full-time in state or local government or in a nonprofit organization in Maryland. Applicant's employer must help low income, underserved residents or underserved areas in the state. Applicant must have loans from a university, government, or commercial source used to pay for college expenses. Applicant may not be in default on a loan. Gross salary cannot exceed $50,000 and, if married, combined salaries cannot exceed $110,000.

 

Alice Yuriko Endo Memorial Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a member of JACL. Selection is based upon personal statement, letters of recommendation, transcripts, work experience, and community involvement. Preference is given to residents of the Eastern District Council and to applicants interested in public or social service.

 

Master's in Social Work Department Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must have received Bachelor of Social Work degree from Walla Walla College and earn a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients may also be eligible for a Master's in Social Work Merit Scholarship.

 

Master's in Social Work Minority Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: None

Applicant must be an African-American, Hispanic, or registered Native American.

 

Master's in Social Work Merit Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA. Award amount is based on GPA. Recipients qualify to receive the Master's in Social Work Departmental Scholarship.

 

Walla Walla College Master's in Social Work Grant

Award: $2,600, Deadline: None

Applicant must show financial need.

 

Health Research Training Program

Award: -, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a New York City resident who is attending a metropolitan New York City school. The program offers internships in public health research, community outreach and education, fieldwork, laboratory work and administration to all college undergraduates, graduate, and professional school students.

 

Taylor Statten Memorial Fellowship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 30

Applicant must be under the age of 25 and a graduate of a Canadian university. Particular consideration is given to academically qualified candidates whose career goals and past interests and experience indicate a serious commitment to working with young people. Transcript of university record and three letters of recommendation required. Award is in Canadian money.

 

Hopi Supplemental Grant

Award: $1,500, Deadline: July 31 (fall); November 30 (spring); April 30 (summer)

Applicant must be an enrolled member of the Hopi Tribe. Entering freshman applicant must have a minimum 2.0 GPA or a minimum GED score of 45%. Continuing student applicant must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Financial need is considered.
