Applicant must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours per term or 180 clock hours at a college or university, enroll no less than part-time in a career certificate program consisting of no less than 450 clock hours at a career center, or enroll as no less than a part-time student in good standing at an educator preparation institute. Applicant must not owe a repayment or be in default under any state or federal grant, loan, or scholarship program unless satisfactory arrangements to repay have been made. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen enrolled in a U.S. or Canadian medical school and plan to specialize in psychiatry. Selection based upon demonstrated interest in psychiatry, academic ability, and financial need. The following materials must be submitted: applicant information form (available upon request), three letters supporting applicant's nomination (letter from Office of the Dean, letter from applicant outlining career goals in psychiatry, and letter of support from member of medical school's Department of Psychiatry), AMA Foundation Student Financial Statement completed by school's financial aid office, and medical school transcript.
