James D. Phelan Literary Award

Applicant must be between 20 and 35 years of age by deadline and have been born in the state of California, but need not be a current resident. Applicant must submit a literary work-in-progress: fiction, nonfiction, prose, poetry, or drama. Nonfiction writers who are not recipients of the award may be considered for the $1,000 Special Award for Nonfictional Prose. No separate application is required for the special award.

 

Sheila and Josef Tiber Scholarship

Applicant must demonstrate strong potential for success in his or her chosen major and must demonstrate financial need. Freshman applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA. Upperclass applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Anna L. Blair Scholarship

Applicant must be enrolled full-time in the College of Arts and Letters or the College of Humanities and Public Affairs. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need.

 

Curl Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (minimum 3.5 GPA in political science). Preference is given to a student from southwest Missouri with a rural background.

Applicant must be enrolled in the College of Natural and Applied Science and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Extracurricular activities are considered.

 

AAIA/Adolph Van Pelt Special Fund for Indian Scholarship

Applicant must have at least a quarter degree Indian blood from a federally recognized tribe. Certificate of enrollment and blood quantum from his or her tribe or Bureau of Indian Affairs are required to be submitted. Award is based upon financial need and merit.

 

Displaced Homemakers Scholarship

Applicant must be full-time student who would not otherwise be able to complete educational goals due to family responsibilities.

 

David Risling Emergency Aid Scholarship

Applicant must have at least one-quarter degree American Indian/Alaskan Native blood from a federally recognized tribe and demonstrate financial need. Certificate of enrollment, blood quantum from his or her tribe or Bureau of Indian Affairs, essay describing specific nature of emergency need, and financial need are required. Applicant must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident with a minimum 2.6 GPA. Selection is based upon academic merit, extracurricular activities, and financial need. Interest in working in a chemical plant may also be considered. Award is in Canadian dollars.
