Richard T. Torkelson Memorial Scholarship Fund for Journalism

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 5

Applicant must be a resident of Sonoma, Lake, or Mendocino counties who plans to or is currently majoring in communications or journalism.

 

John R. Rogers/Ziegler Family Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduating senior from John R. Rogers High School in Spokane, WA. Minimum 2.5 GPA required.

 

Dave Chamberlain Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 30

Applicant must be a graduate of Evergreen School District who is pursuing a degree in education.

 

Paul B. & Aline Flynn Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Charlotte, Collier, Lee, Hendry or Glades County, FL high school who will pursue a degree in communications or journalism at an accredited four-year college or university. Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

AAF Fort Wayne Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 29

Applicant must be a full-time college student registered in an advertising or marketing related field: advertising, marketing, public relations, communications, commercial art, media techniques, video production, telecommunications, or web design. Applicant must be from or attending a school in one of the following Indiana counties: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, or Whitley.

 

The Christopher Hentchel WIQH Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: April 1 (College Applicants); May 1 (High School Seniors)

Applicant must be a current or past resident of Carlisle, MA or Concord, MA pursuing undergraduate studies.

 

Lisa Bjork Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a graduating senior from Jupiter High School, or a Palm Beach or Martin County, FL high school who will pursue a career in communications or journalism. Essay is required.

 

Collegiate Journalism Award

Award: $2,500, Deadline: April 5

Applicant must be a college student with an interest in journalism who has been published in a college or university newspaper/publication or online.

 

Christopher W. Keyser Undergraduate Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: July 31

Applicant must be enrolled in a four-year college or university program in the United States with an interest in the legal or criminal justice fields. Applicant must be actively pursuing a degree in one of the following areas of study: communications, criminal justice, English, history, journalism, political science, or pre-law studies. Essay required.

 

Bachelor's Degree Scholarship in Communication and Journalism

Award: $500, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in a communications and journalism related major. Selection is based on academic history, extracurricular activities, and employment history.

 

Advancement of Women in Sports and Entertainment Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 15

Applicant must be a full-time female undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college in Nevada. Applicant must be majoring in communication studies, marketing, public relations, media studies, or journalism. Minimum 2.75 GPA required.

 

Ann Marie Brown Memorial Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: May 16

Applicant must be a college junior, senior, or post graduate who is studying communications, health care administration, journalism, or marketing. Must be a resident of Nassau or Suffolk County.

 

Bill Gove Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: May 19

Applicants must be full-time students majoring or minoring in speech. Selection is based on application, essay, recommendation and college transcript.

 

Cavett Robert Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: May 19

Applicants must be full-time students majoring or minoring in speech. Selection is based on application, essay, recommendation and college transcript.

 

Wilson W. Carnes Scholarship

Award: $300, Deadline: February 1

Applicants must be current FFA members and high school seniors or college students planning to enroll or currently enrolled full-time. Students only need to complete the online application one time to be considered for all FFA-administered scholarships. The application requires information about the student's activities and a 1,000-word essay. Awards may be used for books, supplies, tuition, fees and room and board.

 

MetLife Foundation FFA Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 8

Applicants must be working toward four-year degrees in specific areas of agriculture including public service and administration, agribusiness management, range/soil science, public communications, plant or animal breeding and genetics, education, plant pathology, journalism, technology, extension, mechanization, public relations, finance, economics, sales, marketing or engineering. Applicants must also be residents of one of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin or Wyoming. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Lebanese American Heritage Club Scholarships

Award: -, Deadline: April 6

Applicants must U.S. citizens and Michigan residents and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (3.5 for graduate students). They must maintain full-time status. Special consideration is given to students majoring in mass communications, political science and related fields, those enrolled or planning to attend institutions that contribute to the Arab American Scholarship Fund and those who did not receive the scholarship in the preceding year.

 

Kansas Junior Livestock Show Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: August 15

Applicants must be a Kansas Livestock Show exhibitor and a current high school senior with plans to enroll in a post-secondary educational program or currently enrolled in post-secondary school. Students should also not have previously received a KJLS scholarship and not be a family member of a member of the Scholarship Selection Committee.

 

Mississippi Association of Broadcasters Scholarship Program

Award: $4,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicants must be Mississippi residents and be enrolled in an accredited broadcast curriculum at a Mississippi two- or four-year college.

 

Mas Family Scholarships

Award: $8,000, Deadline: January 30

Applicants must be majoring in or have plans to major in business, communications, economics, engineering, international relations or journalism. They must demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to success in a democratic, free enterprise society. Selection is based on academic merit, personal essay, leadership ability, professional potential and character.

 

Joel Garcia Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 2

Applicants must be Latino and either attending California schools or be California residents attending out-of-state schools. Students must show an interest in journalism (broadcast, print, photo or online) and demonstrate financial need and academic achievement.

 

Frank del Olmo Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 2

Applicants must be Latino, be either California residents or attending California schools and have an interest in pursuing a journalism career. An interview is required. Financial need, academic achievement and community involvement are also considered.

 

Minority Scholarship and Training Program

Award: $10,000, Deadline: November 6

Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, major in broadcast journalism, digital multimedia, mass/speech/digital communication, television production or marketing at an accredited university or college, be college sophomores, be U.S. citizens and be of non-white origin.
