Applicants must be Massachusetts residents who are enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited institution of higher learning that offers degrees in television and radio broadcasting. Students must meet their school's definition of a full-time student. Selection is based on financial need, academic merit, community service, extracurricular activities and work experience.

Applicants must also be 20 to 30 years of age, have musical training and background and demonstrate operatic potential. They must be able to sing in more than one language. They must show ambition and drive evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community or workplace activities. A recommendation from an unrelated adult who can vouch for the student's achievement is required.

They must be enrolled in a beef industry-related program of study and have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the beef industry through previous coursework taken, internships completed or other life experiences. They or their families must be members of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association. Selection is based on the strength of the essay, letter of intent and reference letters.

Applicants must be Connecticut residents who have been accepted at or are enrolled at a postsecondary institution full-time. They must be studying or have plans to study a science or engineering subject that is related to air and waste management or a related environmental subject, and they must intend to pursue careers in one of these areas. Selection is based on academic achievement, stated career goals, extracurricular involvements and letters of recommendation.
