Commonwealth "Good Citizen" Scholarships

Award: -, Deadline: April

Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to community service and creativity in shaping volunteer activities. They must be full-time current or upcoming undergraduate students at an AICUP member college or university. A two-page essay is required.

 

Woodbury University - California Dream Act

Award: $12,240, Deadline: March 2

Applicants must attend a California high school for a minimum of three years; or attain credits equivalent to three or more years of high school coursework and a combination of three or more years at a California elementary or secondary school. Applicants must graduate from a California high school, pass the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE) or get a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and enroll in an accredited California college or university. Applicants will be eligible for Cal Grants, Middle Class Scholarships and other state and institutional financial aid. Applicants should check with the campus financial aid office for further details or requirements. State and institutional aid such as Cal Grants are free money for college that does not have to be paid back.

 

Andre Sobel Award

Award: -, Deadline: January 31

Applicants must be between the ages of 12 and 21 as of June 30 of the year of application. They must be survivors of cancer or some other critical or life-threatening illness. Friends, family members and caregivers of those who meet these qualifications may also participate. All applicants must be United States residents. An essay is required.

 

Angie M. Houtz Memorial Fund Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: April 30

Applicants must attend or be accepted to attend a public college in Maryland full-time. They must have an unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher and have participated in at least 200 hours of community service. They cannot be related to a member of the scholarship fund's board of directors.

 

Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern) Scholarships

Applicants must be Armenian Americans who are currently attending or plan to attend a four-year college or university. Preference is given to applicants who are U.S. citizens and are active in the Armenian Church.

 

Friends of the California State Fair Scholarship Program

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 2

Applicants must be enrolled or plan to enroll in a four-year accredited California institution of higher learning. They must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have a valid California ID.

 

Clanseer and Anna Johnson Scholarships

Award: $6,000, Deadline: Open

Applicants must have been born in the United States and be New Jersey residents. They must have an A or B average in science and math-related subjects and maintain above average grades overall. Financial need and merit are considered. Scholarship winners are asked to perform at least ten hours of community service each week for a year following graduation.

 

Dominique Lisa Pandolfo Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: Open

Applicants must be females who have been nominated by the Dominique Lisa Pandolfo Scholarship Committee. They must exhibit outstanding character, potential, merit, personality and leadership qualities, and they must demonstrate financial need. Applicants must be New Jersey residents.

 

Business and Professional Women of Kentucky Foundation Grant

Award: -, Deadline: April 30; October 31

Applicants must be Kentucky residents who are at least 18 years of age. They must be employed or planning a career in the Kentucky workforce and attending an institution of higher learning. Individuals may receive a grant no more than once every 24 months. Deadlines are April 30 and October 31 of each year.

 

Lemieux-Lovejoy Youth Scholarship

Award: $1,200, Deadline: April 13

Applicants must be female Maine residents who are high school seniors or who have recently graduated from high school.

 

California - Hawaii Elks Major Project Undergraduate Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and California or Hawaii residents who have a physical, neurological, visual or hearing impairment or a speech/language disorder. They must be high school seniors or graduates or have passed the GED or California High School Proficiency Examination.

 

Buddy Pelletier Surfing Foundation Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 1

Applicants must be members of the East Coast surfing community. Rising high school seniors, current undergraduate college students and returning students may apply regardless of age. Two letters of recommendation and a 500-word essay are required. Previous applicants and winners may reapply each year.

 

Graeme Clark Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: September 30

Applicants must have received a Nucleus cochlear implant. They may be high school seniors, current college students or students who have been accepted into an institution of higher learning. Students must pursue a minimum of a three-year undergraduate degree at an accredited university. Criteria for selection include academic achievement and commitment to leadership and humanity. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for all applicants.

 

Abilene Christian University - National Merit Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: December 5

Applicant must be a National Merit Finalist who has designated Abilene Christian University as his or her first-choice institution when completing the scholarship application. Applicants may change their top-choice selection by logging onto the Online Scholarship Application (OSA) website. Applicant must take the PSAT/NMSQT in the specified year of the high school program and no later than the third year in grades 9 through 12. Applicant must also be a citizen of the United States or be a U.S. lawful permanent resident.

 

Harry Alan Gregg Foundation Grants

Award: $1,200, Deadline: March 9; June 8; September 7; December 7

Applicants must be New Hampshire residents with physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities or their families. Funds may be used for a variety of purposes but must benefit the person with a disability. Selection is based on need. Applications are reviewed four times a year, with deadlines in March, June, September and December.

 

Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence Scholarships

Applicants must be DSDI members and actual descendants of Declaration of Independence signers. Senior members' dues must be current, and junior annual members must convert to senior status on their 18th birthdays.

 

Alma College - National Merit Scholarship

Navy College Fund

Applicants must be Navy recruits who are qualified for training in selected Navy ratings as non-prior service enlistees and agree to serve on active duty for at least three years. They must have graduated from high school, be 17 to 35 years old, agree to a $1,200 pay reduction and receive an "Honorable" Character of Service.

 

Sterling Scholar Awards of Utah

Award: $1,500, Deadline: January 23

Applicants must be Utah public high school seniors. They must be nominated by their schools in one of 14 categories. Selection is based on scholarship (50 percent), leadership (25 percent) and community service/citizenship (25 percent).

 

American University of Health Sciences - National Merit Scholarship

Applicant must be a National Merit Finalist who has designated American University of Health Sciences as his or her first-choice institution when completing the scholarship application. Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation Scholarship Program

Applicants must be Nebraska residents pursuing undergraduate studies at a Nebraska public institution of higher learning who have not yet earned a bachelor's degree. They must be in need of financial assistance in order to obtain education. Students must have applied for federal aid and have a 2.5 or higher GPA.

 

Texas Elks State Association Teenager of the Year Contest

Award: $1,500, Deadline: February 17

Applicants must be graduating high school seniors from Texas. Selection criteria include SAT/ACT scores, honors and awards, participation and leadership in extracurricular activities and neatness and organization of application.

 

National American University - National Merit Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: December 5

Applicant must be a National Merit Finalist who has designated National American University as his or her first-choice institution when completing the scholarship application. Texas Elks State Association Scholarship Program

Applicants must be seniors in Texas high schools who are not in the top 5 percent of their class. They must be U.S. citizens and Texas residents.

 

U.S. JCI Senate Scholarship Grants

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicants must be high school seniors and U.S. citizens who are graduating from a U.S. accredited high school or state approved home school or GED program. Winners must attend college full-time to receive funds. Applications are judged at the state level.

 

National American University - Albuquerque - National Merit Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: December 5

Applicant must be a National Merit Finalist who has designated National American University - Albuquerque as his or her first-choice institution when completing the scholarship application. Applicants may change their top-choice selection by logging onto the Online Scholarship Application (OSA) website. Applicant must take the PSAT/NMSQT in the specified year of the high school program and no later than the third year in grades 9 through 12. Virginia Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarships

Applicants must be high school seniors and U.S. citizens who are sponsored by a Virginia DAR chapter. They may pursue an undergraduate degree in any field except nursing at any Virginia college or university.

 

UDC Virginia Division Gift Scholarships

Applicants must be direct descendants of Confederates or indirect descendants who are UDC members. They must receive an endorsement from a Virginia UDC chapter and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
