HENAAC Scholars Program

Award: $10,000, Deadline: April 30

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate student who is of Hispanic descent or has demonstrated significant leadership and community service within the Hispanic community. Applicant must plan to attend or is currently attending a two- or four-year college or university in the United States or Puerto Rico pursuing a degree in science, technology, or math (health and medical fields are not eligible). Minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Young Epidemiology Scholars (YES) Competition

Award: $50,000, Deadline: February 2

Applicant must be a high school junior or senior, who is a citizen or permanent resident (holding a green card) of the United States, and is enrolled in and attending a high school located in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, or the Mariana Islands; home schooled applicants who reside in those countries are also eligible. Original research project that applies epidemiological methods of analysis to a health-related issue in a human population is required; only one project per applicant will be accepted. Program is designed to inspire talented students to investigate the many behavioral, biological, environmental, and social factors that affect health, and based upon this knowledge, to identify ways to improve the health of the public. Award is applicable for tuition, required fees, and on-campus room and board at an accredited college or university located in the United States.

 

Robert G. Porter Scholars Program

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 31

Essay under 500 words, at least two letters of recommendation (one from a teacher and one from a community leader), transcripts, and SAT Reasoning/ACT scores are required to be submitted.

 

The National Federation of the Blind Scholarship

Award: $12,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be legally blind in both eyes, residing in and pursuing a full-time course of study in an accredited degree program in the United States or Puerto Rico. Online/print application form, personal essay, two letters of recommendation, proof of legal blindness, all post-secondary transcripts, and one interview with NFB state president required; financial need not required. One scholarship may be given to a student who is working full-time and attending part-time. Recipient must participate in the NFB Annual Convention (financial assistance for convention is in addition to the scholarship). The Kenneth Jernigan Scholarship

Applicant must be legally blind in both eyes, residing in and pursuing a full-time course of study in an accredited degree program in the United States or Puerto Rico. Online/print application form, personal essay, two letters of recommendation, proof of legal blindness, all post-secondary transcripts, and one interview with NFB state president required; financial need not required. The Larry Streeter Memorial Scholarship

Global Citizen Scholarship Program

Award: $30,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a college freshman or sophomore who is an international student (not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident); preference granted to high school students in their graduating year. Selection based upon academic excellence, school/community leadership, extra-curricular involvement/service, and a commitment to global citizenship. Financial need is considered.

 

Global Citizen International Awards

Award: $10,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a college freshman or sophomore who is an international student (not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident); preference granted to high school students in their graduating year. Selection based upon academic excellence, school/community leadership, extra-curricular involvement/service, and a commitment to global citizenship. Financial need is considered.

 

APS Minority Travel Fellowship Awards

Award: $1,800, Deadline: n/a

Applicant must be an underrepresented minority graduate student, post-doctoral fellow, and early career faculty (recently transitioned); or a graduate student, post-doctoral fellow, and early career faculty (recently transitioned) with disabilities. Applicant must be attending a United States institution and conducting research in physiology within the U.S. and it's territories. Fellowship looks to increase active participation in and networking at scientific meetings among pre- and post-doctoral students who are from groups underrepresented in the physiological sciences.

 

International Student Scholarship

Applicant must be an international undergraduate with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

 

International Student Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of a country other than the United States.

 

George Collins Fellowship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: September 5

Award is to support travel costs for international scholars who are speakers at the Annual Conference of the Society.

 

American Baptist Financial Aid Scholarships

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen who is a member of the American Baptist Church, and attending an accredited college or university school in the U.S. or Puerto Rico as a full-time student.

 

HCF Scholars Program

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 16

Applicant must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent. Financial need is required to be demonstrated.

 

The Charles and Melva T. Owen Memorial Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 31

International Student Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 15 (fall); November 15 (spring)

Applicant must be a citizen of a foreign country and have a minimum 2.0 GPA.

 

Community College Transfer Scholarship Program

Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is a United States citizen or legal permanent resident and is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must be enrolled as a student in a community college and have plans to transfer to a full-time, degree-seeking program at a four-year accredited college or university in the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam.

 

President's International Scholar Award

Award: $3,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student, maintain a residence outside of New York and international student status, maintain normal academic progress, live in a university residence hall, and maintain a 3.0 GPA. The Director of International Education will choose the award recipients based on their admissions application and transcript.

 

HSF/Ford Motor Company Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage and is a graduating high school senior with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. Applicant must have plans to enroll as a full-time student in a degree-seeking program at a four-year accredited institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam. Preference will be given to students who have participated in the Ford PAS program. FAFSA is required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

 

HSF/General Motors Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and plan to enroll or already be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree seeking program at a four-year accredited institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands during the upcoming academic year. FAFSA and GM Online Assessment (semi-finalists only) are required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

 

International Masters/Professional Fellowship

Award: $18,000, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must be a women who is not a United States citizen or permanent resident. Award is for full-time study or research in the United States.

 

General College Scholarship Program

Award: $5,000, Deadline: April 6

Applicant must be a college student who is a United States citizen or legal permanent resident and is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree-seeking program at an accredited college or university in the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam.

 

Global Award

Applicant must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, be enrolled in at least 12 credits per semester, and come from a country other than the U.S. or Canada.

 

Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship Contest

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 2

Applicant must be a high school or college/university student who is a legal resident of the United States or Canada and is enrolled during the latter half of the academic year. Greeting card design is required to be submitted. Judging criteria will be used to determine the recipient: overall aesthetic appeal; quality of execution; creativity and originality; successful incorporation of design elements; appropriateness for use as a greeting card; attractiveness to The Gallery Collection's corporate and consumer customers; suitability as a design in Prudent's Gallery Collection greeting card line.

 

Manuel Candamo Memorial Scholarship Program

Award: $2,500, Deadline: February 16

Applicant must be Puerto Rican, of Puerto Rican descent, or a U.S. citizen living in Puerto Rico. Applicant must be or plan to be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student at an accredited university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico for the upcoming academic year. Financial need is required.

 

Ford Mi Fuerza Program

Applicant must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent who is studying at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Puerto Rico for the upcoming academic year. Financial need is required.

 

Denny's Scholarship Program

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 16

Applicant must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent and studying as a full-time student in the United States or Puerto Rico pursuing an undergraduate degree in business, entrepreneurship, marketing, or a related field for the upcoming academic year. Financial need is required.

 

Marriott Scholars Program

Award: $9,000, Deadline: February 16

Applicant must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent who is a rising freshman, sophomore, or is planning to transfer from a two-year college to a four-year university of college in pursuit of a degree within the hospitality management, hotel management, culinary or food and beverage field.

 

Google Scholarship Program

Award: $10,000, Deadline: February 16

Applicant must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent who is a junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student studying full-time in the United States or Puerto Rico pursuing a degree in computer science or computer engineering in the upcoming academic year. Financial need is required. Selected recipients will be invited to an all-expenses paid trip to the Google Headquarters located in California for the upcoming spring.

 

Lockheed Martin Scholarship Program

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 16

Applicant must be Hispanic or of Hispanic descent who is a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in business, science or engineering for the upcoming academic year. Financial need is required.
