New Investigator Research Grant

Award: $5,000, Deadline: June 4

Selection is competitive and based upon the formal research grant proposal. Open to new scientists earning their latest degree in communication sciences within the last five years. Recipient must complete investigation within one year and submit a final report. Applicant should request specific guidelines and forms to prepare an application.

 

Grass Fellowship in Neurobiology

Preference is given to applicant who has demonstrated a commitment to a career in research. Research proposal, budget, and letter of recommendation are required to be submitted. Award is for full tuition for a 14-week fellowship at Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA.

 

Faculty Merit Scholarship

Applicant must have a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.39 and be in the upper half of their graduating class. Transfer applicants must have at least nine transferable courses and have a GPA between 3.0 and 3.39. All applicants must be graduates of regionally accredited high schools in a specified college-prep curriculum.

 

New York State ENA September 11 Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 28

Applicant must be a pre-hospital care provider, firefighter, or police officer who is studying for an undergraduate nursing degree.

 

Osteopathic Medical Service Scholarship

Award: $15,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be a Kansas resident enrolled in a nationally accredited osteopathy school. Preference is given to first-year students.

 

Resident Education Advisor Program

Award: $3,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be male. Preference is given to a SAE brother currently attending or planning to attend graduate school. He will serve 15-20 hours a week as a live-in educational advisor and take meals with the chapter.

 

Bob Eddy Scholarship

Applicant must be either a student who is entering their junior or senior year next fall at a four-year Connecticut college, or a Connecticut resident who is enrolled at a four-year college out-of-state. Applicant must be planning for a career in journalism.

 

Harriet A. Shaw Fellowship

Applicant must be a woman and a graduate of Wellesley College who plans to pursue further study or research abroad or in the U.S. Preference is given to music applicants and to those who have not previously held the award. Other applicants must have undergraduate background in art history. Selection is based upon merit and need.

 

North Carolina Vietnam Veterans' Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: February 28

Applicant must be a Vietnam veteran or the spouse, child, stepchild, grandchild, or great grandchild of a Vietnam veteran, and must reside in Wake county or one of the counties adjacent to it.

 

Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation Scholarship for Mature Women

Award: $1,500, Deadline: June 1

Applicants must be female, age 25 or more, be enrolled at least half-time to earn a first bachelor's degree, have completed at least half the credits needed for the degree, demonstrate financial need, have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA, and submit an application and essay.

 

Our World Underwater Scholarship Society Internship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be an experienced scuba diver, have a good academic record, pass a physical exam, and be interested in an underwater-related career. Applicant must submit resume and written statements. Award is for reimbursement of travel and living expenses.

 

Burlington Business and Professional Women's Organization Science and Technology Scholarship

Applicant must be a female resident of Addison, Chittenden, Franklin, Grand Isle, or Lamoille County, VT who will pursue education or training in a science or technology field.

 

Ted Bridges Hospitality Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of Vermont who will pursue education or training related to hospitality or tourism at an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Financial need and academic achievement must be demonstrated.

 

Harry J. Harwick Scholarship

Applicant must submit a letter stating career goals and objectives, a resume showing employment history with a brief narrative describing specific employment responsibilities in the health care field, and three letters of recommendation. Applicant must attend an ACEHSA or AUPHA-accredited school. Reference letters should address performance, character, potential to succeed, and need for scholarship support. Send for an application with a self-addressed, stamped, business-size envelope.

 

Lerner-Scott Prize

Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and be enrolled in his/her sophomore or junior year of a four-year college. Two letters of recommendation with at least one from a faculty member in the applicant's major department and an official transcript showing all courses required.

 

Dairy Student Recognition Award

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a graduating senior who is planning to pursue a career related to dairy (production agriculture, manufacturing, marketing, agricultural law, business, veterinary medicine, and environmental science) who has demonstrated leadership skills, academic ability, and an interest in dairy cattle. Letter of recommendation from department chair or faculty member and official transcript are required to be submitted. Two applicants per college or university are accepted for this contest in any given year.

 

Early American Economy and Society Fellowship

Applicant must submit five copies of curriculum vitae, a two- to four-page description of proposed research, and one letter of recommendation. Award is for research in residence.

 

Alumni Legacy Grant

Applicant must be the child, grandchild, or great grandchild of an alumnus/a, in the top quarter of their class, be classified as a dependent per federal regulations, and be enrolled full time as an undergraduate student.

 

Orange County Scholarship

Applicant must be a female resident of Orange County who has faced significant barriers limiting access to education after high school, and will attend an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Financial need must be demonstrated.

Rotary Overseas/American Field Service/Youth for Understanding Scholarship

AWANA Scholarship

Richard W. Leopold Prize

Prize is given for the best book written by a historian connected with federal, state, or municipal government, in the areas of foreign policy, military affairs broadly construed, the historical activities of the federal government, or biography in one of the above areas.

 

Women's Army Corps Veterans Association Scholarship

Applicant must be the child, grandchild, niece, or nephew of an Army service woman and must submit documentation of sponsor's military service. Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and be enrolled full time in a four-year program at an accredited college or university in the United States. Selection is based upon academic achievement, leadership ability through co-curricular activities and community involvement, biographical sketch, recommendations, and application form.
