Award: $1,500, Deadline: February 28
Applicant must be a Vietnam veteran or the spouse, child, stepchild, grandchild, or great grandchild of a Vietnam veteran, and must reside in Wake county or one of the counties adjacent to it.
Award: $20,000, Deadline: March 15
Applicant must be U.S. citizen and resident of Durham, Orange, or Wake counties for a minimum of one year. Applicant must demonstrate potential to succeed despite significant adversity and a desire to improve himself or herself through further education or training.

Applicant must be a United States citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 who is of Hispanic heritage. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale who plans to enroll as a full-time student in a degree-seeking program at a four-year accredited institution in the United States, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Guam during the upcoming academic year. FAFSA is required. Program will begin as of fall 2009.

Applicant must be a resident of Wake County, NC, who is a first-generation U.S. citizen, refugee, or immigrant planning to pursue a two- or four-year degree as a full-time student at an accredited public, private, or technical college or university in the state of North Carolina. Minimum 2.5 GPA required.
Award: $5,000, Deadline: June 1
Applicant must be a resident of Chatham, Durham, Orange, Wake, or Pearson County, NC, who is a current nursing student at a public institution or have been admitted to a nursing program at a public institution in North Carolina offering an associate or baccalaureate degree in nursing. Minimum 2.0 GPA and financial need are required.
