Applicant must be a Washington resident and enlisted active/participating member of the Washington National Guard who is in good standing, is an Enlisted, Warrant, or commissioned officer below Major, earns a minimum of 50 retirement points per year, has completed initial training requirements, and has completed at least one year in the National Guard and has a minimum of two years remaining on current contract. Applicant must have attended a school in Washington and be working towards a degree or certificate and have a minimum 2.5 GPA (minimum 3.0 GPA for graduate students). Recipient must agree to remain an active/participating member in the Washington National Guard for one additional year of service for each year of award. Applicants in Inactive National Guard service are not eligible for award. Prior to July 1, 2007, applicants must have attened a school accredited by the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities.
