Applicants must be members of the MyFamilyTravels.com online community and be between the ages of 13 and 18. They must be in grades 8 through 12 and must be attending a U.S. or Canadian high school, U.S. or Canadian junior high school, U.S. home school or an American school located outside of the U.S. They must submit an essay about a significant travel experience that occurred within the past three years and that happened when the applicant was between the ages of 12 and 18. Applicant must be part of a team of two, three, or four other people who select a technology (or an aspect of a technology) that is present in and relevant to their lives. Through research of current information, they must then create an in-depth report that discusses what that technology could be like 20 years from now. Applicant must be a United States or Canadian citizen or legal resident, living within the United States, U.S. Territories or Canada and enrolled full-time in a public or private high school.
