From Failure to Promise Essay Contest

Award: $1,500, Deadline: July 31

Applicant must be a high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate-level college student with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, pursuing or planning to pursue a degree at an accredited college or university in the United States. Essay on the topic of the book 'From Failure to Promise: An Uncommon Path to Professoriate' is required.

 

'Hire a Licensed Contractor' PSA Video Contest

Award: $3,000, Deadline: January 30

Applicant must create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) highlighting the importance of hiring a licensed contractor and to emphasize that the hiring of an unlicensed contractor can be risky business. Only applicants attending a college, university, or community/technical school may receive the scholarship award.

 

'Natural Disaster' PSA Video Contest

Award: $3,000, Deadline: January 30

Applicant must create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) highlighting the importance of hiring a licensed contractor when a natural disaster occurs. Only applicants attending a college, university, or community/technical school may receive the scholarship award.

 

Thomas W. Langfitt, Jr. Memorial Award for Volunteer Community Service

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be Community College of Philadelphia student who will graduate this academic year, is registered for a minimum of six credits during each semester, and has been involved in community endeavors in a volunteer capacity. Two-page essay, two letters of recommendation and a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required.

 

The George Arnold Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: November 10

Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours, have completed at least one semester, demonstrate significant financial need, and be returning to Community College of Philadelphia for the spring semester. Essay and minimum 2.5 GPA required.

 

The Jay Arnold & Bruce Campbell Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgendered (GLBT) Youth Scholarship

Award: $1,250, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours, have completed at least one semester, demonstrate significant financial need, and be returning to the Community College of Philadelphia for the next academic year. Essay and minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Dr. Lorraine H. Brown Scholarship in Memory of the Floyd Family

Award: $2,000, Deadline: July 2

Applicant must be a Philadelphia resident who has earned a minimum of 24 credits at Community College of Philadelphia, with a minimum of six credit hours per semester. Two-page essay, letter of recommendation and minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA required.

 

College Scholarship for Academic Excellence

Award: $1,500, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must plan to enroll for full-time study at an accredited college or university after completing the requirements for an associate's degree at the Community College of Philadelphia. Minimum 3.8 GPA required.

 

Community College of Philadelphia Foundation Scholars Program

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must have completed one semester of study at Community College of Philadelphia with a minimum of six credit hours. Essay, letter of recommendation and minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA required.

 

Diane and George Davis Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 4

Applicant must be a Philadelphia resident who has completed 24 or less credits at the Community College of Philadelphia, and will volunteer for a minimum of eight hours at the College per academic year if selected. Letter of recommendation and minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Dwight D. Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program

Award: $3,500, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a full-time student at the Community College of Philadelphia who has completed a minimum of 12 credits, and will write a summary of how his/her plan of study will impact and enhance the field of transportation. Four letters of recommendation and minimum 3.0 GPA required.

 

Kathryn J. Engebretson Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: June 15

Applicant must be returning to school after a minimum of two years, with 15 or less credits if previously enrolled in a college or university, and enrolling in an associate's degree program at the Community College of Philadelphia with a minimum of six credit hours per semester. Essay, letter of recommendation and minimum 2.5 GPA required.

 

First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia Scholarship

Award: $3,500, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be planning to or currently attending Community College of Philadelphia full-time. Preference given to students who reside in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia (ZIP codes 19145, 19146 and 19148). Two-page essay, two letters of recommendation and minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required.

 

The New American Scholarship and Internship Program

Award: $3,000, Deadline: November 15

Applicant must be a Latino student enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university who is seeking a degree in business, engineering (all disciplines), computer science/computer engineering, information systems/decision sciences, mathematics/statistics/sciences. Applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future. Selection based up on academic performance, essay responses, extra-curricular/interests/community service, demonstrated leadership, communication/interpersonal skills, and work experience. Program provides a combination of scholarship assistance and a possible structured, multi-year internship for Latino college students. The internships are designed to work with major corporations, and at the same time, provide students with a pathway to high-level careers in the private sector.

 

GAAS Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or have a graduated from high school who is currently or will be enrolled in a full-time college-level program or an ASE/NATEF certified post secondary automotive technical program in the United States or Canada.

 

Virginia Auctionners Association Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: October 1

Applicant must be the son, daughter, step daughter, stepson, granddaughter, or grandson of a current active Auxiliary member in good standing for a period of five years. Applicant must be graduating from an accredited high school and be applying to an accredited college and/or have been accepted into a qualified college or university undergraduate study program or a school of higher education; or candidate must have completed the past year at a qualified college or university or school of higher education.

 

Myrtle Mehan/Hazel Morgan Music Education Scholarship

Applicant must be a college sophomore majoring in music education at a college or university which has a Music Education Department.

 

Dorothy Dann Bullock Music Therapy Award

Award: $1,100, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in music therapy and enrolled in an accredited school approved by the American Music Therapy Association. Financial need is required.

 

Ruth B. Robertson Music Therapy Award

Applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 26 by March 1 of the year of audition. Applicant must be an instrumentalist or vocalist.

 

James J. Davis Memorial Scholarship for Students Studying Abroad

Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident who is an undergraduate student enrolled in a full academic year/semester/quarter study abroad program at an accredited university. Preference will be given to students with financial need, students studying in a non-English speaking country, and students majoring in engineering, math, and science.

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be an active member in good standing, or a spouse, child, or grandchild of active members in good standing of Oregon AFSCME Local 2067 who has been active for more than one year as of the scholarship deadline. Essay, FAFSA and minimum 2.5 GPA required.

Applicant must be a dependent of an employee of Bend Garbage & Recycling, Deschutes Recycling, Deschutes Transfer, High Country Disposal, or Mid Oregon Recycling who has been employed for two or more years as of the scholarship deadline. Minimum 3.25 GPA required for graduating seniors.
