Transfer Academic Scholarship

Applicant must be a transfer student with a cumulative 3.5 GPA who is transferring a minimum of 15 credits.

 

Financial Need Scholarship

Award: $760, Deadline: None

Applicant must file a FAFSA and demonstrate financial need according to the school's formula.

 

Orfalea Migrant Education Scholarship Award

Award: $1,700, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must meet one of the following criteria: be an incoming sophomore, junior, or senior who participated in CAMP (College Assistance Migrant Program) during their freshman year at a participating CSU or community college; be a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior who participated in the Migrant Education program at a Ventura County high school; be an incoming graduate student who participated in CAMP or the Migrant Education Program.

 

Ryan Orfalea Scholarship

Award: $3,500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or high school graduate from schools in the Ventura County who plan to attend full-time at an approved vocational school, community college, or four-year university/college. Applicant must be the son or daughter, legally dependent step child, or ward of a regular full-time employee based at a Kinko's corporate office in Ventura County. The employee must have completed a minimum of three years eligible employment prior to December 31, 1996.

 

Margaret A. Tompkins Oxnard Monday Club Scholarship

Award: $600, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or high school graduate who is a female and resident of Oxnard, CA. Applicant must be intending to enroll or is currently enrolled at an accredited junior college, college, or university with a minimum 3.5 GPA. Preference is given to business and science majors.

 

Orfalea Scholarship Award

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or Ventura County high school graduate enrolling or already enrolled at an accredited vocational school, community college, or four-year college or university. Applicant must be an early childhood education or teaching major, or any major provided applicant is able to meet at least one of the following requirements: has a documented learning difference/is a non-traditional learner; is under 24 years of age and has a parent employed as a nurse, teacher (pre-K to grade 12), or at a non-profit agency; is under the age of 24 and is the child of a single parent; has completed the Montana Yellowstone Expedition Summer Program.

 

Orfalea Health Field Scholarship Award

Award: $2,500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a Ventura County high school senior or graduate enrolling or already enrolled at an accredited vocational school, community college, or four-year university in a health-related field. Essay is required and it must specify intent to practice in Ventura County upon completion of studies.

 

Bernice Barnard Music Education Scholarship

Award: $575, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be from the city of San Buenaventura or Ojai and have attended a Ventura or Ojai area high school or college. Interest and involvement in music in recommendation letters and essay must be shown.

 

Auxiliary to the Texas Society of Engineers Undergraduate English Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 31

Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident, have completed a minimum of four semesters in an ABET approved Engineering Program at a Texas University, and must be enrolled as a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Selection is based upon academic achievement and economic need. Program is to recognize and support outstanding engineering students by providing financial support through scholarships. Recipients will be recognized at the Annual Meeting of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers in San Antonio, TX in June. Funds will be available for the fall semester after enrollment verification.

 

Robert M. Duncan Foundation Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a sophomore, junior, or senior at a community college, private college, or university of California in Southern California with a minimum 3.5 GPA in at least two courses of Economics, United States History, and/or American Economic History.

 

Finch Family Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: January 11

Applicant must be a student enrolling at an accredited college, university, trade school, or community college with a minimum 3.2 GPA. Applicant must be the child of an employee or contractor of Finch Ranches or a resident of the town of Piru. If applicant is related to an employee of Finch Ranches, they must include a signed and dated reference letter stating the affiliation with application form.

 

CareerFitter Scholarship

Award: $500, Deadline: September 15

Applicant must be a student ranging from the high school to graduate school levels who is an United States citizen or permanent resident with a minimum 2.4 GPA and attending (or planning to attend) a college or university program for the next school term. Essay is required. Applicant is strongly encouraged to take advantage of the career evaluation made available before or at the conclusion of the scholarship application.

 

Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship Contest

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 2

Applicant must be a high school or college/university student who is a legal resident of the United States or Canada and is enrolled during the latter half of the academic year. Greeting card design is required to be submitted. Judging criteria will be used to determine the recipient: overall aesthetic appeal; quality of execution; creativity and originality; successful incorporation of design elements; appropriateness for use as a greeting card; attractiveness to The Gallery Collection's corporate and consumer customers; suitability as a design in Prudent's Gallery Collection greeting card line.

 

Transfer Student Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA based upon transfer credits. Award amounts vary depending on GPA. Recipients with a GPA between 3.9 and 4.0 will receive $1,000 per year for two consecutive years if all renewal criteria are met; recipients with a GPA between 3.5 and 3.89 will receive $500 per year for two consecutive years, if all renewal criteria are met.

 

Dean's Scholarship

Applicant must be an admitted student with a minimum 3.4 college GPA. Applicant must be nominated.

 

Faculty Scholarship

Award: $8,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must be an admitted transfer student with a minimum 2.8 cumulative college GPA.

 

Tennessee Aspire Award

Award: $1,500, Deadline: September 1 (fall semester); February 1 (spring/summer semesters)

Applicant must meet the minimum requirements of the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship and have an adjusted gross income of $36,000 or less on the tax form.

 

Tennessee Foster Child Tuition Grant

Award: -, Deadline: September 1 (fall semester); February 1 (spring semester)

Applicant must be a foster child who has been in custody of the Tennessee Department of Children Services for at least one year after reaching 14 years of age; for at least one year after reaching age 14 and placed for adoption; or for at least one year after reaching age 14 and placed in permanent guardianship by the Tennessee Department of Children Services. Applicant must be eligible for the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship or HOPE Access Grant.

 

Greek American Journalism Scholarship/Peter Agris Memorial

Applicant must be of Greek/American heritage and be a current full-time journalism or communications major at the graduate or undergraduate level in an accredited college or university in the United States. Active participation in school, community, church organizations, financial need, and a minimum 3.0 GPA are required. Scholarships are presented each spring at Alpha Omega Council's Annual Lifetime Achievement Award Dinner, during which time a noted individual or organization from within the Greek/American community is recognized for contributions to Hellenic and Orthodox ideals.

 

Achievement Grant

Music Scholarship

Applicant must be a music major as indicated by the courses taken with the audition medium being the major performance concentration; have a GPA of 3.0 or above in each semester of the major performance concentration commensurate with the requirements of the major; have registered for applied lessons in the major performance concentration commensurate with the requirements of the major; and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above for all university study.

 

Theater Scholarship

Applicant must declare one of the two Theatre Arts majors as their official university major. Applicant must be able to complete each of these requirements: earn a GPA of 3.0 or above in their major each semester of study; register for all the Theatre Arts classes leaning towards the declared major; maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above for all university study; and audition and participate in all departmental productions each semester.

 

Christian Leadership Scholarship

Christian Education Cooperative Grant

Ministry Scholarship

Applicant must be a member in good standing of a Baptist church so that they will be able to provide local approval (certification), license, or ordination papers from a Baptist church.

 

Jane C. Waldbaum Archaeological Field School Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be at least 18 years of age who is at least of junior undergraduate status who is currently enrolled in a college or university in the United States or Canada (note: applicant can not be more than a first-year graduate student). Applicant may not have previously participated in archaeological excavation.

 

Performing Arts - Dance Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: None

Applicant must be a full-time student studying dance. Recipient must complete a minimum of one course in dance or one technical crew for a dance production or be a member of at least one of the Cedar Crest Dance Company's dance ensembles per semester. A minimum of one performance in Dance Company of one technical crew for dance must be included each year.

 

Visual Task Force (VTF) Scholarship

Award: $125, Deadline: March 17

Applicant must be a NABJ student member who is currently attending an accredited four-year university or graduate program. Applicant must have declared a concentration in visual journalism with a minimum 2.75 GPA. Experience working on campus newspaper/television studio, and work in an internship program are also requirements.

 

Gerald Boyd/Robin Stone Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 17

Applicant must be a NABJ student member who is currently attending an accredited four-year university majoring in print journalism with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

 

Allison E. Fisher Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 17

Applicant must be a NABJ student member who is currently attending an accredited four-year university majoring in journalism (print, broadcast), with a minimum 3.0 GPA and participation in community service activities. Recipient will be formally recognized on the NABJ website and in the convention program book in addition to being asked to attend the "Evening with an Angel on a Jazz Note," held in Baltimore, which is the annual fundraiser for this scholarship.
