Scholarships in Biological Science
Award: $5,000, Deadline: November 10
Applicants must be U.S. graduate students enrolled in a research-oriented master's or Ph.D. program or college graduates enrolled in a joint bachelor's/master's program at a U.S. institution. Students must pursue studies in science, engineering and education research. The award provides summer research experience in Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore or Taiwan, a $5,000 stipend, round-trip airfare, living expenses and orientation in Washington, DC.
Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 15
Applicants must be rising undergraduate juniors or seniors at a New Jersey independent college or university. They must be majoring in one of the life sciences and have a GPA of 3.25 or higher on a four-point scale. Selection is based on academic merit and career potential.
Award: $3,000, Deadline: April 14
Applicants must be graduating high school seniors at a Colorado high school and must have plans to study engineering, mathematics or science at an accredited four-year postsecondary institution. They must be enrolled in college beginning in the fall of the application year, have an unweighted GPA of 3.7 or higher and have a composite ACT score of 28 or higher or a cumulative SAT score of 1200 or higher. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

Selection is based on recommendation letters, academic merit, faculty sponsorship and stated academic goals and interests in science, technology and engineering.

Students must be at least a high school senior. AvaCare Medical offers an annual scholarship for an inspiring act of kindness. Selection is based on judge scores as well as public votes. Submission may be in the form of a blog post, an image or a short video clip. Finalists are selected based on content, creativity and quality of work.
