Vietnam Veterans' Scholarship

Award: -, Deadline: Open

Applicants must have been honorably discharged from the armed forces, and they must have received a Vietnam campaign medal for serving in Vietnam anytime between August 5, 1964 and the official end of the war. Students must be attending either a public school or one of the following private schools in New Mexico: the College of Santa Fe, St. John's College or the College of the Southwest. They must have been New Mexico residents when entering the armed forces or have lived in the state for at least 10 years.

 

Virginia Commonwealth Award

Undergraduate applicants must be admitted to a Virginia public two- or four-year college or university, be enrolled at least half-time, be residents of Virginia, be U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens and demonstrate financial need. Graduate applicants must be enrolled full-time in an eligible Virginia graduate degree program. The selection process varies by school.

 

Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant Program

Award: $3,200, Deadline: July 31

Applicants must be Virginia residents and enrolled full-time as undergraduate, graduate or professional school students at an eligible private, non-profit Virginia postsecondary institution. Applicants who are enrolled in a religious or theological degree program are ineligible as are graduate students who are enrolled in a degree program that is not related to health care. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Sallie Mae $1,000 Sweepstakes

Award: $1,000, Deadline: Monthly

Applicants may be high school, undergraduate or graduate students and must register on Sallie Mae's website. Each month one registered user is selected in a random drawing to receive the sweepstakes. When you are register for Sallie Mae's Scholarship Search, you may elect to be entered into the sweepstakes drawing.

 

American Council of the Blind Scholarships

Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 1

Students must be legally blind in both eyes and admitted full-time to a post-secondary academic or vocational program. A minimum GPA of 3.3 is required, except in extenuating circumstances. Students who work full-time and attend school part-time may apply for the John Hebner Memorial Scholarship. Scholarship recipients are expected to attend a national convention if they are over 18.

 

Eremian Scholarship

Applicants must be of Armenian ancestry and not related to the ARS Central Executive or Eremian Scholarship Committee members. Specific requirements may vary by region.

 

Chickasaw Nation Education Foundation Program

Award: -, Deadline: Open

Applicants must be full-time Chickasaw students. Other eligibility requirements vary by scholarship.

 

Citizen Potawatomi Nation Tribal Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: September 15; February 15; June 15

Applicants must be Citizen Potawatomi Nation tribal members who are enrolled full or part-time in an undergraduate or graduate academic degree program at an accredited postsecondary institution. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Fraternal Order of Eagles Memorial Foundation

Applicants must be the children of Eagles who lost their lives while serving in the military or in the commission of their daily employment. Applicants must have a 2.0 minimum GPA, be under the age of 25, unmarried and non-self supporting.

 

Vincent L. Hawkinson Scholarship for Peace and Justice

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicants must advocate peace, reside in or attend school in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota or Wisconsin and attend an interview in Minneapolis and the fall awards ceremony.

 

Midwest Student Exchange Program

Award: -, Deadline: Open

Applicants must currently live in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota or Wisconsin and wish to attend a participating school in one of these states outside their own. Other eligibility requirements vary depending on the state and school. Awards are tuition reduction for out-of-state schools in the participating region.

 

National Wildlife Federation EcoLeaders Fellowship Program

Applicants must create a plan for a campus ecology program, working with a project advisor and verifier. All Campus Ecology fellows are required to attend a training program.

 

Aurand Harris Memorial Playwriting Award

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicants must live in New England and/or be members of NETC and submit a full-length play written for a young audience. The play must not have been previously published, previously produced by a professional company or submitted to the Harris competition. Students may only submit one play. There is a $20 processing fee.

 

Chief Manuelito Scholarship Program

Award: $7,000, Deadline: June 25; November 25

Students must be enrolled members of the Navajo nation, submit a Certificate of Indian Blood, attend a regionally-accredited school and complete a FAFSA form. Students must also complete a Navajo Government course (available online).

 

Mary P. Oenslanger Scholastic Achievement Awards

Award: $6,000, Deadline: March 10

Applicants must be blind or visually impaired, Learning Ally members and college seniors and graduate students.

 

General Conference Women's Ministries Scholarship Program

Applicants must be women who are planning to study at a Seventh-day Adventist college in their division. Students in their final two years of study will be given preference. Applicants must show financial need, academic achievement and willingness to serve the Lord.

 

Academic Study Award

Award: $2,500, Deadline: December 1

Applicants must be registered nurses enrolled full- or part-time in a nationally accredited school of nursing baccalaureate program with an interest in occupational and environmental health or be registered nurses enrolled full- or part-time in a graduate program that has application to occupational and environmental health. Applicants should submit a narrative and letters of recommendation.

 

Charlotte McGuire Scholarship

Applicants must be pursuing an education in holistic nursing and be members of the AHNA.

 

Dorothy Budnek Memorial Scholarship

Award: $600, Deadline: September 15

Applicants must be active members of the American Radiological Nurses Association for three years, have a current nursing license and be enrolled in an approved academic program. Students should submit the application, a statement of purpose, two recommendation letters, a transcript which shows a minimum 2.5 GPA, a statement of financial support and a copy of the nursing license.

 

Henry Belin du Pont Dissertation Fellowship

Award: $6,500, Deadline: November 15

Applicants must be doctoral students who have completed all course work and are performing dissertation research. Research topics should involve historical questions and should relate to the collections in the Hagley Library. Fellows will receive housing, office space, a computer and Internet access. A presentation is required at the end of the residence period.

 

Research Training Fellowships for Medical Students (Medical Fellows Program)

Award: $43,000, Deadline: January 11

Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. medical, dental or veterinary school, and the fellowship research may be conducted at an academic or nonprofit institution in the United States or abroad if the fellow's mentor is affiliated with a U.S. institution. The research should focus on biological processes or disease mechanisms. The fellowship is based on the applicant's ability, potential research career as a physician/scientist and training. Applicants must submit research plans, personal statements, letters of reference, transcripts and MCAT or DAT scores.

 

IMCEA Scholarships

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 15

High school or college applicants must be children of IMCEA members. Candidates must provide information about their activities, honors and awards and submit an essay on the provided topic.

 

Michael Curry Summer Internship Program

Award: $1,346, Deadline: February 29

Applicants must be Illinois residents. Recipients work full-time in an agency under the jurisdiction of the Governor for 10 weeks during the summer.

 

Fadel Educational Foundation Annual Award Program

Award: $3,500, Deadline: May 29

Applicants must be non-incarcerated students pursuing higher education. Selection is based on need and merit. Applicants should provide application forms, two teacher recommendation forms, one masjid official recommendation letter and financial need reports.

 

Women in Sports Media Scholarship/Internship Program

Award: $1,000, Deadline: October 31

Applicants must be female students working full-time toward a graduate or undergraduate degree with the goal of becoming a sports writer, editor, broadcaster or public relations representative. Applicants must submit a resume, an essay on a memorable experience in sports or sports media, three references, two letters of recommendation and up to five samples of their work. Application fee is waived for AWSM members.

 

Student Achievement Grants

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 1; June 1; October 15

Applicants must be current public school teachers in PreK-12, public school education support professionals or faculty or staff at public higher education institutions. Preference is given to those who work with economically disadvantaged students and NEA members. The grants may be used for materials, supplies, equipment, transportation, software or scholars-in-residence and in some cases professional development. The work should "engage students in critical thinking and problem solving that deepens their knowledge of standards-based subject matter."

 

Learning and Leadership Grants

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 1; June 1; October 15

Applicants must be current public school teachers in grades K-12, public school education support professionals or faculty and staff at public higher education institutions. The professional development must improve practice, curriculum and student achievement. Funds may be used for fees, travel expenses, books or materials. There is also a grant for groups for $5,000.

 

Agnes Missirian Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: April 21

Applicants must be full-time students at accredited colleges or universities who are females of Armenian descent. They must be juniors, seniors or graduate students.

 

Pryor Fellowships

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicants must be Alpha Chi members or alumni who are enrolled or planning to enroll full-time in a doctoral, terminal master's or first professional degree program.

 

Carmen E. Turner Scholarship

Award: $3,500, Deadline: March 10

Applicants must have been COMTO members in good standing for at least the past year. Students must be enrolling as an undergraduate student at an accredited institution of higher education or enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program for at least six credits per semester with at least a 2.5 GPA.
