Exploration Fund Grant

Award: $5,000, Deadline: December 1

Selection is based upon the scientific and practical merit of the research proposal.

 

Nevada Women's Fund Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: March 25

Applicant must be a woman and a resident of northern Nevada. Preference is given to female students at the University of Nevada & Community College System in Northern Nevada.

 

AWA Scholarship Awards

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 16

Applicant must be a California resident attending an accredited school in California who has completed at least 18 units in their major in a program granting a degree or certificate. Selection is based solely upon merit.

 

General Research Grant

Award: $22,000, Deadline: July 15; January 5

Applicant must be working on a research project that will be performed by a graduate student for whom they are the advisor.

 

Mary M. Vergis Award

Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 1

Applicant must be a woman, single, a member in good standing for at least two years of Daughters of Penelope or of Maids of Athena or the daughter of an Ahepan or Daughter of Penelope, a resident of the U.S., Canada, or Greece, and be enrolled for at least nine units per academic year. Selection is based upon scholastic records and extracurricular activities.

 

Hawaii Chapter/David T. Woolsey Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a resident of Hawaii and submit a typed, double-spaced autobiography/statement of personal goals (500-word maximum), sample of design work, and two letters of recommendation.

 

William J. Locklin Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 31

This scholarship emphasizes the importance of 24-hour lighting in landscape design. Applicant must submit essay, visual samples, and letter of recommendation.

 

AILA/Yamagami/Hope Fellowship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: August 1

Applicant must have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in landscape architecture, have been in in professional practice for at least three years, and wish to continue education. Applicant must submit a summary (500-word maximum), statement of intent (100-word maximum), and two letters of recommendation. Selection is based upon innovative nature of proposal, benefits to the profession, acheivement of personal goals, and applicant's qualifications.

 

Two-Year Kress Research at Foreign Institutions Fellowship

Award: $22,500, Deadline: November 30

Award may be used at schools in Florence, Jerusalem, Leiden, London, Munich, Nicosia, Paris, Rome, or Zurich only (complete list of affiliated schools available on sponsor's website).

 

Kress Travel Fellowship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: November 30

Applicant must be a pre-doctoral candidate in the history of art who is a U.S. citizen or an individual matriculated at an American university. Applicant must be nominated by their art history department. Fellowship allows students to travel to view materials essential for the completion of dissertation research.

 

Fellowship for Post-Graduate Advanced Training in Fine Arts Conservation

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen studying anywhere in the world; foreign applicants must be studying at a U.S. institution.

 

George M. Sparks Scholarship

Black Alumni Association

Applicant must be a currently enrolled African American student. Interview is mandatory.

 

Bernadotte E. Schmitt Grant for Research in European, African, or Asian History

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a member of the American Historical Association. Preference will be given to those with specific research needs, such as the completion of a project or completion of a discrete segment thereof. Preference will be given to advanced doctoral students, non-tenured faculty, and unaffiliated scholars.

 

Duchesne Scholarship

J.C.U. Johnson Memorial Scholarship

American Fellowship Summer/Short-Term Research Publication Grant

Award: $6,000, Deadline: November 15

Applicant must be a woman and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Award is for college or university faculty or independent researchers to prepare a completed publication. Selection is based upon scholarly experience, teaching experience, and active commitment to helping women and girls through service in the community, profession, or field of research. This award is for postdoctoral research. Recipient must have time available for eight weeks of research.

 

American Fellowship Postdoctoral Research Leave Fellowship

Award: $30,000, Deadline: November 15

Applicant must be a woman who has earned a doctorate by the application deadline. Selection is based upon scholarly excellence, teaching experience, and active commitment to helping women and girls through service in her community, profession, or field of research. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. One fellowship is designated specifically for a woman from an underrepresented minority group.

 

Graduate Fellowship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a student who has been an active or lifetime member of ACDA for at least three years. Applications must include a current resume, reasons for applying for financial assistance, the date applicant became a member, two letters of recommendation from major professors, a description of the graduate degree program in which the applicant is enrolled, and a current personal finance statement showing the need for ACDA's financial assistance.

 

Science Writing Award

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 22

Applicant must submit a published article that is intended for a general audience. Selection is based upon the applicant's ability to enhance the public's understanding and appreciation of physics and related fields.

 

American Recorder Society Scholarship

Award: $350, Deadline: April 15 (summer workshop)

Applicant must be an individual who plays the recorder and would like to attend a workshop, but needs financial assistance. Applicant must show serious interest in the recorder and enjoy sharing their love of the instrument with others.

 

Essentials of Orchestra Management Fellowship

Award: $40,000, Deadline: March 24

Applicant must be specifically committed to becoming the executive director of an American orchestra within five to 10 years of graduating from the fellowship program.

 

Student Translation Award

Award: $500, Deadline: June 29

Applicant must be a student or group of students attending a U.S. college or university that has completed a translation project from a foreign language into English. Preference will be given to students who are currently enrolled in a translator training program. Award includes up to $500 toward expenses for attending ATA's Annual Conference.
