Applicant must be a junior or senior business major enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States; or a graduate student enrolled or accepted to a master's or doctoral program within a Business school at an accredited college or university in the United States (applicant may apply during their sophomore year). Applicant must currently be a full-time student in good academic standing and making satisfactory progress toward an undergraduate or graduate degree. Financial need is not required. Members of the National NAACP Board of Directors, SCF Trustees, National Youth Work Committe, the NAACP Scholarship Selection Committee, employees and their spouses or families to the first degree of consanguinity are not eligible to apply for or receive this scholarship. Three letters of recommendation (other than relatives): one personal reference, two academic references from the business school of the accredited college (academic letters must be on official letterhead); recent official college transcript, evidence of full-time enrollment, and one page essay required.

Applicant must be employed in the footwear, leather or allied industries for at least 500 hours during the year prior to January 1 or applicant's parents must be employed in these industries for a minimum of two years. Applicants must have completed a minimum of twelve college level course units within the last four years, at least two courses must have been Real Estate or Real Estate related studies.
