Leslie H. Cochran University Scholars Award

Applicant must have a minimum composite ACT score of 30 (combined SAT Reasoning score of 1340) and either recognition as a National Merit or National Achievement Finalist or rank in top 15% of class with college-preparatory curriculum. For special consideration, applicant must have a minimum composite ACT score of 28 (combined SAT Reasoning score of 1260) and either recognition as a National Merit or National Achievement Semifinalist or rank in top 15% of class with college-preparatory curriculum and a recommendation by the University Scholars Committee.

 

Frank M. and Olive F. Gilman Foundation Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduate from one of the following Orange County or Windsor County high schools: Black River, Blue Mountain Union, Chelsea Public, Green Mountain Union, Hartford, Mid Vermont Christian, Oxbow, Randolph Union, Rochester, Sharon, South Royalton, Springfield, Thetford, Whitcomb, Williamstown, Windsor, or Woodstock. Financial need and school/community involvement must be demonstrated.

 

Presidential Scholarship

Awarded to applicant who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement, aptitude for college, and leadership/service potential. Applicant must have minimum composite ACT score of 27 (combined SAT score of 1220) and class rank at or above the 90th percentile. Financial need is not considered. Department of Children & Family Services Scholarship

Trustees' Scholarship

International Piano Competition

Open to accomplished pianists between the ages of 18 and 30 who are ready for careers as concert artists. Concert tours are arranged for first, second, and third place winners.

National Vocal Competition for Young Opera Singers

Award: $10,000, Deadline: January (New York auditions); March (Los Angeles auditions)

Applicant must be a female between the ages of 21-33 or a male between the ages of 21-35, who is trained in opera singing and is looking to further their career in the opera. Applicant must be a resident of the U.S. or Canada.

 

Special Fellowship

Award: $50,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must hold an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree. Proposed research project must be related directly to leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.

 

ACL/NJCL National Latin Exam Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 8

Applicant must take the ACL/NJCL National Latin Exam. Scholarship letters with instructions for how to apply will be automatically mailed to those who qualify based on exam results.

 

Sertoma Communicative Disorders Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 30

Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States who is a full-time student with a minimum 3.2 GPA and who has been accepted into a master's degree program at a school in North America. U.S. institutions must be accredited by the Education Standards Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Application available online.

 

NAHJ General Scholarship

Applicant must submit a sample of best work, resume, recommendations, essay, transcript, financial need statement, parents' W-2 forms, and application. Selection is based upon academic excellence, demonstrated interest in a journalism career, and financial need. For application, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope with request.

Jagannathan Scholarship

Applicant must be a North Carolina resident and enroll full time at one of the 16 U of North Carolina constituent institutions. Preference is given to the children of employees of Tiepet, Inc., Universal Fibers, and related companies.

 

Tennessee Teaching Scholars

Award: $4,500, Deadline: April 15

Applicant must be a Tennessee resident and United States citizen who is a college junior, senior, and post-baccalaureate student admitted to a teacher education program at an eligible Tennessee post-secondary institution. Undergraduate applicants must be enrolled full-time; graduate students at least half-time. Applicant may not be a licensed teacher or have received the scholarship while employed in a teaching position.

 

Presidential Scholarship

Applicant must be a North Carolina resident ranking in top quarter of class and have a minimum combined SAT I score of 1050 (composite ACT score of 24).

 

Minority Teaching Fellows

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a Tennessee resident and United States citizen who is a minority student enrolled full-time at an eligible Tennessee post-secondary institution. Applicant must be an entering freshman with a 2.75 high school GPA with at least an 18 ACT/860 SAT on a national test date. Continuing college students with a 2.5 cumulative GPA may also apply.

 

William Fairburn, Jr. and Cynthia Fairburn Memorial Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: January 29

Applicant must be a graduate of a Ventura County high school, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrate an interest or involvement in sciences, liberal arts, and humanities.

 

Overseas Press Club Foundation

Award: $3,000, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must aspire to be a foreign correspondent at some point in their career. Foundation also funds reporting fellowships at foreign bureaus of major news organizations and English-language foreign newspapers.

 

BIA Higher Education Grant

Award: $2,500, Deadline: July 1 (fall); December 1 (spring); April 1 (summer)

Applicant must be an enrolled member of the Hopi Tribe. Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA or minimum composite GED score of 45%. Financial need is considered.

 

Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Scholarship

Applicant must be a woman. Selection is based upon research or other relevant experience, academic ability, and extracurricular activities.

Mandil Intern is selected from among the applicants to the museum's Advanced Level Internship. Selection is based upon academic achievement and financial need.
