Dean's Scholarship in the Arts

Award: $3,000, Deadline: January 15

For music, award is based upon the audition for acceptance. For art, award is based upon a portfolio that must be presented to the department. For theatre, the award is dependent upon previous acting experience and a written statement. For dance, the award is based upon the audition for acceptance.

 

Fellowship in Early American History and Culture

Award: $1,800, Deadline: March 1

Five copies of a curriculum vitae, a two- to four-page description of the proposed research, and one letter of recommendation required.

 

Fukunaga Scholarship Foundation

Award: $4,000, Deadline: March 1 (postmark date)

Applicant must be a resident of Hawaii (for at least one year), rank in top quarter of class, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and show a financial need. Must also demonstrate the ability, industriousness, dependability, and determination needed to succeed in business within the Pacific Basin area. Official high school/college transcripts through first semester of current year, two letters of recommendation, FAFSA Student Aid Report, and SAT Reasoning/ACT scores required.

 

Mortar Board National Foundation Fellowship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a Mortarboard member or alumni.

 

Dr. Kate Waller Barrett Grant

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be the son or daughter of a veteran or Auxiliary member, a high school senior attending a high school in Virginia, and a Virginia resident who demonstrates financial need. Selection based on good citizenship, leadership, scholastic acheivement, and financial need.

 

Tony Leisner Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen who is currently working in a library and has at least one year of library experience. Selection is based upon academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to a career in librarianship.

 

Alumni Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: April 1 (priority date)

Freshman applicant must have a minimum composite ACT score of 29 (combined SAT I score of 1280). Transfer applicant must be nominated by an area community or junior college president or his or her designee.

 

King Olav V Norwegian-American Heritage Fund

Award: $1,500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be an American, 18 years of age or older, with a plan of studies to focus on exploring his/her interest in Norwegian heritage or in modern Norway at an institution of higher learning. Applicant may also be a Norwegian, 18 years of age or older, who desires to further their studies in North American culture at an institution of higher learning. Selection is based upon academic potential, financial need, statement of educational and career goals, benefit to Sons of Norway and wider Norwegian/American community, involvement in school and community activities, and work experiences. Essay, three letters of recommendation, and official copy of latest high school or college grade transcript are required.

 

ASDSO Undergraduate Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a United States citizen who is enrolled full-time at the senior level during the next school year in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO. Applicant must have an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction, and operation of dams. Minimum 2.5 GPA for the first three years of college and recommendation from academic advisor required. Selection based upon academic achievement, financial need, work experience/activities, and essay.

 

Edward J. Nell Memorial Journalism Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: November 1 (yearbook contest); February 5 (writing/photo contest)

Applicant must be the winner of either the Yearbook Excellence Contest or the Writing/Photo Contest.

 

Altamura-Enrico Caruso Voice Competition, USA

Award: $10,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a young professional majoring in operatic studies, currently performing in opera, and wishing to advance to the next level.

 

ABFSE Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 1; September 1

Applicant must be a United States Citizen who has completed at least one semester of funeral service education in an ABFSE-accredited program.

 

Honors Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: None

Awarded to most outstanding applicants. Financial need is considered. For transfer applicants, preference is given to Phi Theta Kappa members who are graduates of community colleges.

 

Jesuit Community Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 1 (priority)

Applicant must be a graduate of a Catholic school, have a good academic record, and be recommended by the school.

 

Sid Richardson Memorial Fund Scholarship

Award: $5,500, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be the child or grandchild of an individual who qualified for Early Retirement, Normal Retirement, Disability Retirement, or Death Benefits from The Bass Retirement Plan, Retirement Plan for Barbnet/San Jose Cattle Co., Retirement Plan for City Center Development Co., City Club Retirement Plan, Retirement Plan for Richardson Aviation, Retirement Plan for Sid W. Richardson Foundation, or Retirement Plan for Sundance Square. Other applicants that are eligible include direct descendants (children or grandchildren) of persons presently employed with a minimum of three years full-time service (as of March 31) with any of the following employers: Barbnet Investment Co., BEPCO, L.P., BOPCO, L.P., City Club of Ft. Congressional Fellowship on Women and Public Policy

Awarded to graduate students or those who received a graduate degree within the previous 18 months with a proven commitment to equity for women; fellowship is for working one academic year as a congressional legislative aide in Washington, DC.

 

CTA Scholarship for Members

Applicant must be a current active member of the California Teachers Association.

 

Hench Post-Dissertation Fellowship

Award: $35,000, Deadline: October 15

Applicant must be a scholar who is no more than three years beyond receipt of their doctorate. Award is a year-long residential fellowship at the American Antiquarian Society to revise their dissertation for publication.

 

Gus Archie Memorial Scholarship

Award: $6,000, Deadline: April 30

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum SAT score of 1800 (minimum ACT score of 27)with the intent of earning an undergraduate degree in petroleum engineering.

 

Light Ministries Scholarship

Selected Professions Science & Technology Fellowship

Award: $20,000, Deadline: January 10; November 15 (dissertation fellowships)

Applicant must be a woman in her final year of a master's degree program (including one-year programs) in architecture, computer/information science, engineering, and mathematics/statistics, or of a doctoral program in engineering. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Fellow must be enrolled full time and receive her degree at the end of the year.

Mental Health Research Fellowship

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is enrolled in a full-time doctoral program. Applicant must be a member of an ethnic minority group (including but not limited to African-American, Alaskan Native, American Indian, Asian-American, Hispanic, or Pacific Islander) and/or demonstrate a commitment to a research career related to ethnic minority populations. Applicants who specialize in developmental, physiological, experimental, social, industrial, or educational psychology or plan careers in research are encouraged to apply. Applicant must submit an essay, three references, transcripts, and GRE scores.

Sgt. Major Douglas R. Drum Memorial

Award: $5,000, Deadline: March 8

Applicant must be a current member of AMRA or the spouse, dependent child, or grandchild (one who can be claimed as a dependent on their parents' income tax return) of a current member and who are full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in education at a two- or four-year accredited college or university. Half of scholarships are awarded in the fall semester, the other half, in the spring semester.

 

Wexner Graduate Fellowship

Award: $30,000, Deadline: January 20

Applicant must be attending an accredited, full-time program and sign a statement indicating that he or she plans to pursue a career in North America in his or her designated field. Applicant may not have begun their graduate studies prior to applying. Two essays and three references are required to be submitted.

 

Ecolab Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be enrolled full-time in a U.S. baccalaureate of associate degree-granting program. Selection is based upon hospitality work experience, financial need, academic record, professional, community, and extracurricular activities, and essay. Scholarships are also available to hospitality professionals seeking certification from the Educational Institute of AH&LA for the following areas: certified hotel administrator, certified lodging manager, certified engineering operations, and certified hospitality housekeeping executive.
