Applicant must be a graduate student at an accredited school who already possesses a bachelor's degree by their application year. Applicant must be studying concrete construction and be enrolled for at least six credit hours per semester. Transcripts, recommendations, and an essay are required to be submitted.

American Mathematical Society Centennial Fellowship

Selection is based upon applicant's research. Preference will be given to candidates who have not had extensive fellowship support in the past. Applicant must have had a doctoral degree for at least three years and not more than 12 years at the inception of the award; applications will be accepted from those currently holding a tenured, tenure track, postdoctoral, or comparable position at an institution in North America. Applications should include a cogent plan indicating how the fellowship will be used, travel to at least on other institution, and should demonstrate that the fellowship will be used for more than reduction of teaching at the candidate's home institution.

Phyllis Stevenson Grams Memorial Award

Applicants must be currently enrolled college students. The contest is open only to North American students or students enrolled in North American colleges or universities at least through December. Applicants are required to write about growing up a freethinker (atheist or agnostic), or why you reject religion, using a personal (biographical), or philosophical approach, or describing why you choose reason over faith. Experiences in rejecting religion in a religious society may be included. Essay should be 4-5 typed, double-spaced pages with standard margins. Applicant must choose his/her own title and must also include a paragraph biography identifying the college or university he/she is currently attending, year in school, major and interests. Provide permanent and campus addresses, phone numbers and e-mail. Do not include a resume.

 

GEM Ph.D. Science Fellowship

U.S. citizens are preferred; permanent residents will also be accepted. Applicant must be an African-American, Native American, or Puerto Rican, Mexican-American, or other Hispanic-American, have earned a bachelors degree through an accredited program, and must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipient must be free to accept 12 weeks of summer employment and must accept research or teaching assistantship after first year.

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident and a minority student enrolled in full-time studies leading to a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university in the U.S. and have a minimum 3.25 GPA. Selection is based upon academic performance, performance in business- or engineering-related subjects, likelihood of pursuing a career in business or engineering, writing ability, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.
