Adam S. Burford Fund Grant

Award: $800, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must attend West Virginia University and demonstrate financial need and moral character. Minimum 2.5 GPA and 20 ACT. Preference is given to members of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.

 

C. Raymond & Delsia R. Collins Fund Grant

Applicant must demonstrate academic excellence. Minimum 2.5 GPA and minimum composite ACT score of 20 required.

 

Deputy William G. Giacomo Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be the child or grandchild of a law enforcement officer who works or has worked in Nicholas County, W.Va., and must be a graduate of Nicholas High School or Richwood High School. Letter of recommendation, personal essay, and transcripts required. Preference is given to applicants studying law enforcement.

 

William Giacomo Firefighter

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a West Virginia resident who is an active firefighter or the spouse, child, or grandchild of a firefighter on a department that is a member in good standing of the Fayette County Firefighters Association. Applicant must have a minimum 2.75 GPA. Letter of recommendation, personal essay, transcripts, and IRS form 1040 required.

 

Junior League of Charleston Rebecca Dickson Goldsmith Grant

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a resident of Kanawha County, W.Va. with a minimum 2.5 GPA, and demonstrating outstanding community service. Letter of recommendation, personal essay, and transcripts required. Children of Junior League members, past members, or sustainers are not eligible.

Michael W. McDaniel Grant

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a resident or graduate of Fayette County, WV. Minimum 2.5 GPA and minimum composite ACT score of 20 required.

 

Coleman Murphy, Jr. Memorial Grant

Award: $550, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a graduating senior of Nicholas County High School with plans to attend a college or university in West Virginia. Minimum 2.5 GPA and composite ACT score of 20 required.

 

Paul & Grace Rhudy Grant

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a West Virginia resident who is able to demonstrate academic excellence. Minimum 2.5 GPA and composite ACT score of 20 required.

 

West Virginia Golf Association Grant

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must have played golf in West Virginia as an amateur for recreation or competition, or must have been or presently be employed in West Virginia as a caddie, groundskeeper, bag boy, etc. Letter of recommendation from a coach, golf professional, or employer, and an essay explaining how the game of golf has made an impact on the applicant's life required.

 

Chancellor's Merit Award

Applicant must be able to fall into one of these categories: (a) a non-Indiana resident, ranking in the top quarter of their class, with a minimum 1650 composite SAT (composite ACT score of 24 with writing), or or have earned a SAT score of 1800 (27 ACT with writing); (b) a transfer student from another regionally accredited college or university with a minimum of 24 credits and a cumulative GPA of 3.0; (c) a transfer student from another regionally accredited college or university having completed 24 credit hours or more at more than one college with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at each institution attended. Transfer students with fewer than 24 credits completed will be evaluated on their high school record and test scores. International students who are beginning at the university must have scored a minimum 600 on the TOEFL if the test was paper-based or a minimum of 87 if the TOEFL was Internet-based. International students must ask the Office of International Education to recommend them for scholarship consideration.

 

Opportunity Grant

Applicant must be a non-Wisconsin resident entering in the fall semester. FAFSA required.

 

Incentive Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: December 1

Applicant must be a student who resides outside of Indiana and have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.

 

Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 12

Applicant must be a high school senior planning to attend college or a current college student who will be continuing their undergraduate studies this fall. Applicant must live in one of the following states: Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia.

 

Out of State Reduced Tuition Scholarship

Award: $2,500, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA or rank in the top fifth of his/her class, and must have a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1100 (composite ACT score of 24). Transfer applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

 

BB&T Endowed Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: April 30

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a resident of District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia.

 

Regional Scholarship

Award: $2,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a full-time, matriculated freshmen who is a graduate from a high school outside of New York State.

 

Cook Scholarship

Award: $7,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must reside in a state other than New York and must graduate from a private or parochial school. Applicant must have a minimum "85" average and a minimum combined SAT I score of 1000.

 

Health Sciences Scholarship

Award: $20,000, Deadline: October 15

Applicant must be a fourth-year medical student entering a primary care internship/residency in West Virginia, be enrolled in the final year of a nurse practitioner, or an undergraduate physician assistant educational program at a West Virginia school.

 

Mid-America Region Grant

Applicant must be a resident of AL, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MI, MS, NC, SC, TN, or WV.

 

Scholar Recognition Award for Out-of-Sate Students

President's Out of State Scholar Award

Award: $3,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must be an incoming non-New York state resident admitted as an undergraduate freshman in Group I or Group II of the SUNY admissions matrix. Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student, maintain residence outside of New York state, and live in a university residence hall. The Director of Admissions will choose the award recipients based on their admissions application, SAT scores, and high school grades.

 

President's International Scholar Award

Award: $3,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student, maintain a residence outside of New York and international student status, maintain normal academic progress, live in a university residence hall, and maintain a 3.0 GPA. The Director of International Education will choose the award recipients based on their admissions application and transcript.

 

Akron Advantage Blue Award

Applicant must be an out-of-state student. Minimum 3.0 GPA and minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1000 (composite ACT score of 21) required.

 

Akron Advantage Gold Award

Applicant must be an out-of-state resident who is a first-time, full-time freshman or transfer student who meets two of the following criteria: minimum 3.5 GPA (3.25 transfer GPA); rank in top 10% of secondary school class; or minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1200 (composite ACT score of 27).
