Applicants must be 18 and under and should submit entry forms and essays on the provided themes. There are two age divisions: 13 and under and 14 to 18. Awards are based on originality and accuracy.

Projects may fit into one of the following categories: home, recreational or artistic equipment; shop tool, machine or mechanical device; a structure; agricultural equipment or a repair. Applicants must submit a paper about the creation of the project and be enrolled in a shop class. Applicants must also be enrolled in high school, adult evening classes, two-year/community college, vocational school, apprentice program, trade school, in-plant training or technical school and may not be college students enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program.

Applicants must be high school students under the age of 20 who are U.S. citizens or legal residents and residents of the state. Students first give an oration within their state and winners compete at the national level. The oration must be related to the Constitution of the United States focusing on the duties and obligations citizens have to the government. It must be in English and be between three and five minutes. There is also an assigned topic which is posted on the website, and it should be between three and five minutes.

Applicants must be nominated by their school. They must be in grades 4 through 11 and have a GPA of 3.75 or higher in English, reading, language arts, math, science, social studies and foreign language. They must have participated in some form of voluntary community service beyond what is required by their school. Scholarship recipients must attend a four-year college or university upon graduation to receive funds.

Applicants must be Virginia students in kindergarten through 12th grade who are attending a school that has a PTA or PTSA chapter in good standing. They must submit an essay on a sponsor-determined topic relating to citizenship. Selection is based on essay originality, clarity and grammar.

Applicants must be in grades 7 through 12 in American or Canadian schools and must submit artwork in one of the following categories: art portfolio, animation, ceramics and glass, computer art, design, digital imagery, drawing, mixed media, painting, photography, photography portfolio, printmaking, sculpture or video and film. Applicants must be instrumentalists or vocalists between the ages of 14 and 25 years of age and have physical or mental disabilities that limit one or more of their major life activities. Applicants need to include audio or videocassette recordings of three musical selections along with a one-page biography explaining why they feel they should be selected for the award. Awards are based on technique, tone, intonation, rhythm and interpretation from the taped performances.

Applicants must be in grades 9-12. Students will work in teams of two to four and choose a work of literature that emphasizes the struggles and achievements of a person seeking to become an entrepreneur. The book will then be compared to real-life entrepreneurs. Teams will submit an essay outlining the main character and his/her contributions to the theme of the book including a works cited and also a video that visually demonstrates what was learned during the project.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or hold a valid student visa. Students must also be enrolled in or accepted to a college, university or trade school as an undergraduate or graduate level student within the U.S. Applicants will need to submit an article or video on a technology topic that describes and/or solves a specific problem. The contest is held twice a year.

Applicants must be high school students or college freshmen or sophomores. Students must be pursing degree programs in teaching or art, or wish to own their own business. Applicants will need to submit a 500-600 word essay describing where they plan to or are currently attending school, their desired major, how the student developed an interest in teaching, art or owning their own business, and how the scholarship would help to reach your goals.

The ExpressVPN Future of Privacy Scholarship was created to raise awareness around Internet privacy and security. Applicants must submit a 450-600 word essay on one of the following and submit to scholarship@expressvpn.com: 1. We Own the Future: Picture yourself in 2050. How will the evolution of the Internet affect our social structure and/or the authority governments have over citizens? 2. Privacy Advocates: Discuss the logic of this famous quote by Edward Snowden "Arguing that you don't careabout the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say." 3. Privacy in Real Life: As you go about your life, think of three ways privacy, or a lack thereof, impact you personally. Would you be better or worse off if the situation were reversed?
