George Robert Earle Grant-In-Aid

Applicant must be a lineal descendant of worthy Confederates or collateral descendant who is a member of the Children of the Confederacy or the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA, be enrolled in an accredited college or university, and carry a minimum of 12 hours each semester. Applicant must be prepared to pass entrance examination of prospective college or university. Proof of Confederate Military Record, line of descent from Confederate ancestor, a letter of endorsement from sponsoring Chapter, a letter of recommendation, complete financial report, official transcripts, an essay on the significance of a southern heritage, and a wallet-size photo are required to be submitted. Original and four copies of the application forms and five copies of all documents, certificates, and letters must be submitted to the Division Director of Education. All inquiries must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Recipient chosen by Davidson College.

 

Children of Deceased Veterans Tuition Waiver/Stipend

Iowa War Orphans Educational Assistance

Applicant must be a child of a man or woman who died in active federal military service while serving in the armed forces or during active federal military service in the Iowa national guard, or other military components of the U.S. or as a result of service during World War I, World War II, Korean Conflict, Vietnam Conflict, Persian Gulf Conflict, or other specified conflict service; contact Iowa Commission of Veterans Affairs for qualifying dates of service. Applicant must have lived in Iowa for at least two years and attend an institution in Iowa. Application, birth certificate, and death certificate of deceased parent must be submitted.
