Scholarships in Hawaii

F. Koehnen Ltd. Scholarship Fund

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 19

Applicant must be a graduate of a high school on the island of Hawaii and be planning to attend a four-year college or university. Applicant must be the child or grandchild of an employee of a retail establishment on the island of Hawaii. Minimum 2.5 GPA required.

 

Fletcher & Fritzi Hoffman Educational Fund

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 19

Applicant must be a long-time resident of the Hamakua coast on the island of Hawaii and plan to attend school on the island of Hawaii. Preference given to Honoka'a High School graduates.

 

Hilo Chinese School Scholarship

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 19

Applicant must be a full-time student and resident of the island of Hawaii. Minimum 2.5 GPA required. Preference given to descendants of Hilo Chinese School alumni and applicants of Chinese ancestry.

 

Isemoto Contracting Co., Ltd. Scholarship Fund

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 19

Applicant must be a graduate of a high school on the island of Hawaii and be accepted as an upper classman into one of the following college programs: school of engineering, teacher education program, or nursing program.

 

Joseph & Alice Duarte Memorial Fund

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 19

Applicant must be from the North of South Kona districts of the island of Hawaii. Preference given to graduates of Holualoa Elementary School.

 

Kazuma and Ichiko Hisanaga Scholarship Fund

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 19

Applicant must be a current year graduating senior of Hilo High School (if there are no eligible applicants, those graduating from other Hawaii Island high schools will be considered) who is an athlete in more than one varsity sport. Applicant must plan to attend a four-year college or university in the continental United States with preference for NAIA or Division II. Applicant must have leadership and community service experience. Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, additional essay, and letter of recommendation required.

March Taylor Educational Fund (VocEd)

Applicant must be from the island of Hawaii and enrolled in an auto body repair and painting program. Preference may be given to students from West Hawaii.

 

Richard Smart Scholarship Fund

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 19

Applicant must be a first generation college degree seeking student from the Waimea area of Hawaii Island planning to attend a two- or four-year college or university. Minimum 2.7 GPA required.

 

Senator Richard M. & Dr. Ruth Matsuura Scholarship Fund

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 19

Applicant must be a graduate of Hilo High School or Waiakea High School and a current resident of the island of Hawaii.

 

Shelley M. Williams, RPh Scholarship Fund

Award: $5,000, Deadline: February 19

Applicant must be a resident of the Island of Hawaii who demonstrates financial need and is accepted into a school of pharmacy. Minimum 3.0 GPA required. Preference given to applicants intending to return to practice on Hawaii Island.
