Scholarship for Minority Students in Memory of Edna Yelland

Award: $2,500, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a minority student pursuing a Master of Library Science degree at an accredited California library school, be a California resident, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, attend an interview, and demonstrate financial need.

 

Library Degree for Law School Graduates (Type I)

Award: $1,500, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a graduate of an accredited law school who is a degree candidate at an accredited library school. Selection is based upon financial need.

 

Library Degree for Non-Law School Graduates

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a college graduate with meaningful law library experience who is a degree candidate at an accredited library school. Preference is given to AALL members. Selection is based upon financial need.

 

Library Degree for those with JD

Award: $1,000, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a library school graduate who is working toward a law degree at an accredited law school, has no more than 36 semester hours of study remaining before qualifying for the law degree, and who has meaningful law library experience.

 

ALA Research Grant

Award: $25,000, Deadline: November 1

Applicant must be at the instructor or assistant professor level at a U.S. institution and have at least two years of research training. Award is to support new investigators in areas relevant to the conquest of lung disease and the promotion of lung health. Preference is given to minority applicants and applicants interested in tobacco control research.

 

Joseph Collins Foundation Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must obtain application from the medical school authorities, complete it and return it to them for forwarding to the Foundation. Selection is based upon financial need, scholastic record and standing, demonstrated interest in arts and letters or other cultural pursuits outside the field of medicine, intention to specialize in neurology, psychiatry, or general practice, evidence of good moral character, and attendance at an accredited medical school located east of or contiguous to the Mississippi River.

 

Regents Health Care Scholarship for Medicine and Dentistry

Award: $10,000, Deadline: May 31

Applicant must be a United States citizen, national, permanent resident, or selected refugee who is a legal resident of New York State for at least one year immediately preceding the effective date of the award; and must be enrolled in, or be a candidate for admission to, an approved medical or dental school in New York State. Priority is given to applicants in the following order: economically disadvantaged and a member of a minority group historically underrepresented in the professions (i.e., Black, Hispanic, Native American, or Alaskan Native); member of a minority group historically underrepresented in the professions; enrolled in or is a graduate of the following State-sponsored opportunity programs: Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge (SEEK), or College Discovery. Award amount varies. Approximately 100 scholarships are distributed, 80 in medicine and 20 in dentistry.

 

American Legion Auxiliary Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: January 1

Applicant must be a member or the daughter or granddaughter of a member with continuous membership in a unit within the Department of Florida for at least three consecutive years prior to date of application. Applicant must be a Florida resident and must attend a Florida school. Application must be requested by January 1.

 

Albert M. Lappin Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be the child of an American Legion or Auxiliary member.

 

Albert T. Marcoux Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: May 1

Applicant must be the child of a New Hampshire American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary member or deceased member. Applicant must have a minimum grade average of "B" and must be accepted to a four-year college or university.

 

Stutz Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be the natural or adopted child of a member of the American Legion Department of New Jersey.

 

American Legion-New York Auxiliary Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 25

Applicant must be the child or grandchild of a deceased veteran, be a resident of New York state, and a high school graduate. Recipient may use other scholarships.

 

Department President's Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: March 2

Applicant must be the child of a living or deceased veteran who served in World War I, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, Lebanon, or Desert Storm conflicts. Applicant must be an Ohio resident and be sponsored by an American Legion Auxiliary unit.

 

H.S. and Angeline Lewis Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a Wisconsin resident who enrolled at an accredited school and is the child, wife, or widow of a veteran; granddaughters and great-granddaughters of veterans are eligible if they are American Legion Auxiliary members. Minimum 3.2 GPA and financial need required.

 

Merit and Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a Wisconsin resident who enrolled at an accredited school and is the child, wife, or widow of a veteran; granddaughters and great-granddaughters of veterans are eligible if they are American Legion Auxiliary members. Minimum 3.2 GPA and financial need required.

 

State President's Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 15

Applicant must be a Wisconsin resident who enrolled at an accredited school and is the child, wife, or widow of a veteran; granddaughters and great-granddaughters of veterans are eligible if they are American Legion Auxiliary members. Minimum 3.2 GPA and financial need required.

 

Veterans Tuition Award

Award: $4,895, Deadline: June 30

Applicant must be enrolled in an undergraduate program in a New York degree-granting institution or vocational school and must have served in the U.S. Armed Forces in Indochina between January 1, 1963 and May 7, 1975 (dishonorable discharge not eligible). Applicant must have resided in New York on April 20, 1984 or at the time of entry into service and resume residency by September 1 of the year of application. Selection is based solely upon documenting and meeting eligibility requirements. Applicant must also have applied for Tuition Assistance Program and Pell Grant awards. Applicant must have served in hostilities begining August 2, 1990 (for Persian Gulf Veterans Tuition Award only).

 

Desk and Derrick Educational Trust Scholarship

Award: $1,500, Deadline: April 1

Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student with a minimum 3.2 GPA who is pursuing a degree in a major field of study related to qualifying for full-time employment (in the petroleum, energy, or allied industries). Financial need required.

 

Delta Gamma Foundation Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: March 31

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen who is legally blind, is of good character, and demonstrates academic excellence. Selection is based upon transcript, three recommendations, and personal statement.

 

Music Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a Kansas resident attending an approved Kansas college or university.

 

Rand Instrumental Scholarship

Award: $2,100, Deadline: May 15

Applicant must be a resident of the state of Maine and be between the ages 17 and 25 at time of audition. Applicant must be a music major during the fall semester at any accredited music school or university. Audition (of no more than 15 minutes) will include a performance of at least two memorized compositions from two different periods (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Modern). Award minimum, average, and maximum are for first, second, and third place, respectively.

 

Estelle Massey Osborne Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant should be a black registered nurse who is a member of a professional nursing association and enrolled in or applying to a full-time master's degree program in nursing approved by the National League for Nursing and CCNE. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or have declared official intention of becoming one. Applicant must submit GRE or MAT scores. Selection is based upon academic achievement and evidence of service to the profession. Send $20 check to cover postage and handling when requesting application.

 

M. Elizabeth Carnegie Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: March 1

Applicant must be a black registered nurse and member of a professional nursing organization, be enrolled in a doctoral program in nursing or a nursing-related field, and be a U.S. citizen or have officially declared desire to become one. Selection is based upon academic achievement and evidence of service to the profession. Applicant must submit GRE or MAT scores. Nurses Educational Funds Scholarships

Award: $10,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a registered nurse who is a member of a professional nursing association, enrolled as a student in a NLNAC- or CCNE-accredited nursing masters or doctoral program in a nursing or nursing related field with a minimum 3.6 GPA. GRE or MAT scores are not required. A $20 feel is required to cover processing of the online application.

 

ANS Graduate Scholarship

Award: $3,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident enrolled in a course of study relating to a degree in nuclear science and technology. Applicant must be sponsored by an ANS local section, division, student branch, committee member or organization member.

 

John and Muriel Landis Scholarship

Award: $4,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with greater than average financial need enrolled in a U.S. institution. Minority and female applicants are encouraged to apply; however, selection is without regard to race, creed, or sex. Applicant must be sponsored by an ANS local section, division, student branch, committee member, or organization member.

 

John R. Lamarsh Memorial Scholarship
