Recipient will be selected from nominees submitted by a Michigan township board that is a member of good standing in the Michigan Townships Association.

Applicant must be a member of the American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, or Sons of the American Legion and have paid dues for the past two years. Applicant must be a non-traditional student returning to school after interruption of formal education or a student has had at least one year of college and is in need of financial assistance. Recipients of the Legion Auxiliary Spirit of Youth Scholarship are not eligible. Selection is based on academic acheivement, character/leadership, and initiative/goals.
