Applicant must be a high school junior participating in and completing either an American Legions Boys State or American Legion Auxiliary Girls State program and must be a direct descendant or legal adopted child or a U.S. veteran who served on active duty during a time of war.

Award includes a chance to compete for one of 12 $20,000 scholarships.
