Believe and Achieve Scholarship Program

Applicant must be a high school senior or GED recipient who plans to enroll as a full-time undergraduate at a two- or four-year college or university or vocational-technical school. Minimum 3.0 GPA and residence within a 30-mile radius of a Cumberland Farms retail location required. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

 

Saab Family Foundation Scholarships

Applicant must be seeking to pursue a private high school education or higher education in the pursuit of a two- or four-year undergraduate degree. Selection based upon academic meet and/or financial need. Minimum 2.75 GPA and active pursuit of a private high school or college/university education are required. Award is reserved for applicants from or studying in New England.

BASAA Scholarship

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at a U.S. college/university located in the Boston Area Study Abroad Association (BASAA) area; Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Connecticut. Must be planning to study abroad for at least four weeks.

 

Aurand Harris Memorial Playwriting Award

Applicants must live in New England and/or be members of NETC and submit a full-length play written for a young audience. The play must not have been previously published, previously produced by a professional company or submitted to the Harris competition. Students may only submit one play. There is a $20 processing fee.

 

Art Scholarship

Applicants must be seniors at a Maine high school and be legal residents of Maine. Students must submit artwork, usually with a theme of Maine and the outdoors.

 

Early College for ME

Award: $2,000, Deadline: Open

Applicants must be in their junior year at one of the 74 Maine high schools participating in the program. The list of schools is online at http://www.earlycollege.me.edu/participating.html. Students must be Maine residents for at least one year prior to entering the first year of college and must have not yet made plans for college and yet be capable of succeeding at a community college. High schools may also take financial need into consideration when selecting students for the program as well as whether or not the student is the first one to attend college in their family. The program provides community college courses in the senior year of high school, as available, as well as financial aid for a one-year or two-year degree program at a Maine community college.

 

Maine Demolay and Pine Tree Youth Foundation Scholarships

Maine Veterans Dependents Educational Benefits

Applicants must be children whose mother or father is or was a veteran in the state of Maine. They must be at least 16 years old and be high school graduates. They must be pursuing a college degree. Benefits must be awarded prior to the dependent's 22nd birthday, unless he is serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, in which case they may be awarded until his 26th birthday.

 

Tyler/Grandmaison MELMAC Scholarship

Applicants must be Maine high school students nominated by their school's principal. They must be accepted to a college or university and demonstrate exceptional financial need. They must face challenges or obstacles in their pursuit of an education and be committed to public service.

 

Business and Professional Women/Maine Continuing Education Scholarship

Award: $1,200, Deadline: April 13

Applicants must be Maine residents who have completed at least one year of college or will have done so by the end of the spring semester following application. They must be in good standing or on an approved leave of absence of one year or less at their educational institution. Financial need is required, and the student must have a definite plan to complete the program in which she is enrolled.

 

The Webber Group Career Advancement Scholarship

Award: $1,200, Deadline: April 13

Applicants must be female Maine residents who are age 30 or older. They must need financial assistance to improve their skills or complete education for career advancement. They must have a definite plan to use their training to improve their chances of advancement, train for a new career or to enter or reenter the job market. Applicants must be officially accepted into their course of study or program.

 

Lemieux-Lovejoy Youth Scholarship

Applicants must be female Maine residents who are high school seniors or who have recently graduated from high school.

 

Maine BPW Continuing Education Scholarship

Applicants must be female Maine residents who are currently attending a college or training program.

 

Buddy Pelletier Surfing Foundation Scholarship

Award: $1,000, Deadline: June 1

Applicants must be members of the East Coast surfing community. Rising high school seniors, current undergraduate college students and returning students may apply regardless of age. Two letters of recommendation and a 500-word essay are required. Previous applicants and winners may reapply each year.

 

Clauder Competition Prize

Award: $3,000, Deadline: Open

Applicants must live or attend school in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont. This requirement may be waived for playwrights who have previously lived in New England and produce material relevant to the area. They must submit a full-length play that is an original work and has not been produced or published.

 

Maine Innkeepers Association Hospitality Scholarships

Applicants must be Maine residents and accepted to an accredited institution of higher learning with specialties in hotel administration or culinary sciences. Students must plan to begin a career in hospitality upon completion of their degrees.

 

FMC Skaters Scholarship

Applicants must be a New England resident, a senior in high school and skate at an FMC arena. Selection is based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community service and accomplishments and leadership on the ice.

Students must be Maine residents who are not currently enrolled in any college or university program and who have completed no more than 24 college credits. They must also qualify for and be accepted into the associate of arts degree program in liberal/general studies at a Maine community college.

 

Susan Vincent Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be residents of Maine. They must have been accepted into a physician assistant degree program. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

Thomas E. Desjardins Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be civil engineering undergraduates or graduate students who are enrolled at an accredited postsecondary institution in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont. They must demonstrate an interest in transportation engineering through their coursework or extracurricular activities. Selection is based on academic merit, character and extracurricular activities.

 

Russ Casey/Maine Restaurant Associates Scholarship

Applicants must be Maine residents. They must be enrolled in or planning to enroll in a degree program relating to hospitality, restaurant management, hotel management or culinary arts. Preference will be given to students who are attending school in Maine. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

 

NACE Eastern Area Scholarship

Applicants must be a permanent resident of the United States and be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate in an accredited engineering or physical science degree program at a two or four-year college or university.
