Award: $12,000, Deadline: March 2
The program assists heads of households in achieving their academic goals. Recipients of this scholarship receive an integrated network of services through the non-profit organization, One Family, Inc., whose mission is to serve residents of the Commonwealth who are low-income and homeless, or have experienced homelessness within the prior year. Applicants must be a permanent legal resident of Massachusetts for at least one year; be a U.S. Citizen or non-citizen eligible under Title IV; have applied for financial aid; be enrolled full- or part-time; qualify as a head-of-household with children under age 18; and be at risk of homelessness, based on federal poverty standards, or have experienced homelessness within the previous 12 months.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens who are high school graduates or G.E.D. recipients and demonstrate financial need and must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicants must present proof of tribal membership, and preference will be given to active members of the Presbyterian Church. Students are selected based on the availability of funds and best match to donor restrictions. The deadline for students applying to renew the grant is May 1. Awards for new students will be offered on a funds available basis after May 1.

Applicants must be active seamen who are high school graduates or its equivalent, are eligible to receive Seafarers Plan benefits and have credit for two years (730 days) of employment with an employer who is obligated to make contributions to the Seafarers' Plan on the employee's behalf prior to the date of application. Recipients may attend any U.S. accredited institution (college or trade school). Selection is based on high school equivalency scores or secondary school records, college transcripts, if any, SAT/ACT scores, references on character or personality and autobiography. The $6,000 scholarships are for two-year study, and the $20,000 scholarship is for four-year study.

The union member must be eligible for the Seafarer's Plan and must have credit for three years with an employer who is obligated to make a contribution to the Seafarer's Plan on behalf of the employee. Applicants must be active members of the Triangle Fraternity who have completed at least two full academic years of school and will be undergraduates in the school year following their application. Selection is based on financial need, grades and participation in campus and Triangle activities. Preference is given to applicants in engineering and the hard sciences.
