Grant provides financial assistance to students with demonstrated financial need or who exhibit other positive personal qualities. Consideration for grants is given, but not limited to, students with the following characteristics: financial need; co-curricular involvement; service to school, church, and/or community; diversity; parents employed in full-time Christian service as ministers or missionaries; relatives who are alumni of Houghton College; and/or have more than one family member enrolled at Houghton.

 

Parental Christian Service Grant

Applicant must be a student from the United States whose parents are employed in full-time Christian service as missionaries under the direction of a conference or a mission board. Financial need is required.

 

Fine Arts Performance Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of Jasper, Lake, LaPorte, Newton, Porter, Pulaski, or Starke counties, Indiana, and have a minimum 2.7 GPA. Preference is given to women. Selection is based upon academic achievement and potential for college success.

 

Presidential Scholarship

Award: $20,000, Deadline: February 1

Applicant must have a minimum "B+" grade average, minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1150 or composite ACT score of 25, and rank in the top 25 percent of graduating class. Selection is based upon academic merit. Awarded to the most academically talented students in the incoming freshmen class.

 

ARRUPE Scholars Award

Applicant must demonstrate a strong commitment to community service and social justice issues. Applicant is required to be involved in and engage in the campus community, perform community service, and participate in designated course work.

 

Leadership Scholars Award

Applicant must have expressed and/or exhibited an interest and capacity for developing their leadership capabilities.

 

Ignation Award

Girl Scout Leadership Award

Applicant must be a woman, be an active Girl Scout member, have a letter of recommendation from Girl Scout Leader, submit a copy of Girl Scout record, meet all admissions requirements, and demonstrate financial need. FAFSA is required.

Applicant must be a student attending Dominican University of California, have a minimum 3.4 GPA and strong SAT scores, demonstrate leadership and service in community and school, and express commitment to liberal arts education.

 

Dominican Scholarship

Award: $9,000, Deadline: March 2

Selection is based upon academic merit, leadership, school involvement, and community service. Applicant's high-school GPA should be 2.5 or greater with strong SAT scores.

 

Trustee Scholarship

Applicant must be accepted for full-time enrollment and have either a minimum 3.9 GPA, minimum composite ACT score of 33, and be a National Merit finalist; or a minimum 3.7 GPA, minimum composite ACT score of 29, have an IB Diploma, and be a National Merit Semifinalist.

 

Presidential Scholarship

Award: $9,000, Deadline: January 10

Applicant must have one of the following: a minimum 3.5 GPA and minimum composite ACT score of 28; or minimum 3.2 GPA, minimum composite ACT score of 25, and have a parents who is an ordained minister in Disciples of Christ or United Church of Christ; or have a minimum 3.0 GPA and minimum composite ACT score of 24.

 

Church Award

Applicant must be active in the United Church of Christ or the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Personal statement of involvement and letter of recommendation from minister required to be submitted.
