Applicant must be interviewed by an Air Force officer before the application will be presented to a selection board. Applicant must be a high school student or graduate, and meet general physical requirements. Students must be 17 years old by October 31 and under 27 by June 30 in the year of college graduation and Air Force commission, and never have enrolled in college full time.
Three types of awards. Type 1: pays full college tuition, most fees and $900 per year for books. Type 2: pays college tuition and most fees up to $15,000 and pays $900 per year for books. Type 3: pays full college tuition, fees and $900 per year for books, but the student must attend a college/university where the tuition is less than $9,000 per year, OR a public college/university in which the student qualifies for the in-state tuition rate.
