Applicant must be a high school senior who demonstrates preeminent intellectual capability and energetic leadership in the classroom, school, and community. Top candidates often score in the top three percent nationally on the ACT or SAT. Interview is required. In order to receive award, applicant must be accepted for admission to the university by January 15. Recipient has the option of spending a semester or summer studying abroad. University coordinates the study abroad programs and provides funding to the extent of $4,000 for the semester or a proportionate amount for the summer. Recipient will become a member of the Pershing Society, which promotes intellectual and social enrichment. Award is one of the most prestigious scholarships offered to high school graduates.
Plus room and board at the average two-person rate, and $4,000 study-abroad stipend.
Renewable if recipient maintains minimum 3.25 GPA and completes the service obligation beginning the third semester.
