Science and Mathematics Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Selection is based upon achievement and interest in computer, mathematical, natural, or physical sciences.

 

Performance Scholarship in Music, Theatre, and Scottish Arts

Award: $8,000, Deadline: February 15

Awarded to applicants who demonstrate accomplishment and promise in music, theatre, or Scottish arts. Selection is based upon achievement, audition, and potential.

 

Wayne County Scholarship

Award: $13,000, Deadline: February 15

Applicant must be a resident of Wayne County, Ohio, have financial need, and be nominated by a school official on the basis of academic record.

 

Columbia College Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and minimum composite ACT score of 26 (combined SAT Reasoning score equivalent), demonstrate leadership abilities, and attend Scholarship Day.

 

Valedictorian and Salutatorian Scholarship

Applicant must be ranked first or second in their graduating class.

 

Leadership Award

Applicant must have demonstrated leadership abilities in high school and/or community activities.

 

Boys' and Girls' State Awards

Applicant must be an elected delegate to Boys' or Girls' State Convention ($1,000), governor or lt. governor ($2,000), or president or vice president of Boys' or Girls' nation ($3,000).

 

Young Women of America Award

Award: $5,500, Deadline: None

Applicant must be a local Young Woman contestant in Missouri, a local Young Woman winner in Missouri, a runner-up in a state pageant, a State's Young Woman, or America's Young Woman. $1,500 of each award is for room costs.

 

Board of Regents Scholarship

Applicant must be a first-time, full-time freshman with a minimum 3.0 GPA and minimum composite ACT score of 24 (combined SAT score of 1070) for minimum award. National Merit finalists may receive maximum award.

 

Tower Scholarship

Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate and have a minimum 3.0 GPA and minimum composite ACT score of 24 (combined SAT I score of 1070) for minimum award. National Merit finalists may receive maximum award.

Pillars for Excellence Scholarship

Applicant must have a minimum composite ACT score of 26 (combined SAT Reasoning score of 1170) and either a minimum 3.75 GPA or have graduated in the top 10% of class.

 

President's Scholarship

Award: $10,000, Deadline: None

Applicant must have a minimum 90 grade average, minimum 3.3 GPA, and have a minimum combined SAT Reasoning score of 1100 (composite ACT score of 24). Transfer applicants must also have a minimum 3.71 GPA.

 

Paschal Carter Scholarship

Award: $44,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be a first-year student who has earned National Merit Finalist status as determined by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Applicant must be able to demonstrate extraordinary intellectual promise, embrace academic challenges, and reveal clear potential to make significant contributions to the university. Candidates must interview with a university representative on campus or in their home prior to January 15. Preference will be given to applicants who have visited the Denison campus. National Merit Semi-finalists are required to submit a special Paschal Carter Scholarship application. Carter Scholars will be chosen after the completed Common Application and special application have been reviewed.

 

Founders Scholarship

Award: $22,000, Deadline: January 15

Selection depends on the applicant's potential to make significant contributions to both the university's classrooms, but also the school community as well. Strength of the applicant's record, extracurricular achievements, essay, and recommendations will also be considered; recipients typically fall in the top ten percent of the applicant pool.

 

Wells Scholarship

Award: $44,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be an outstanding student in science or mathematics. Nomination is required; applicants nominated rank at or near the top of their class, pursue the most rigorous course load available, and demonstrate sustained and outstanding leadership ability. Other selection factors include the completed Common Application and a special application, which will be sent to the nominated applicant. Interview and campus visit prior to January 15 is required. A faculty committee will select the finalists.

 

Tyree/Parajon Scholarship

Award: $22,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be an academically exceptional student from a traditionally underrepresented population who has demonstrated leadership and service in school, community, or religious organizations. Selection depends on applicant's potential to make a significant contributions both in the classroom and the larger university community.

 

Dr. Betty Lovelace Scholarship

Award: $44,000, Deadline: January 15

Applicant must be an academically exceptional student who comes from a traditionally underrepresented population. Applicant must have demonstrated leadership and service in school, community, or religious organizations, while showing a commitment to diversity. Common Application, special essay, and interview with a university representative by January 15 are required. Preference is given to applicants who have visited the campus.

 

Hla/Fisher Scholarship

Applicant must be an academically talented student who is a leader and comes from a traditionally underrepresented population.

 

Upward Bound Scholarship

Applicant must be an outstanding participant in the Upward Bound Program.

 

Alumni Award for Leadership and Talent

Selection is based upon applicant's academic record, special talent in the creative or performing arts, or demonstrated leadership and service in school, community, or religious organizations. Applicant must be in the top quarter of their graduating class, present a successful record in a college preparatory course of study, and show evidence of leadership, special talent, or commitment to service.

Albert Loftin Endowed Scholarship

Applicant must be a degree-seeking student who has a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA (at least a 3.0 GPA each semester), and must be a resident of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, or Texas residing in school's service area. Official Texarkana Coll transcripts required. First preference is for an applicant who attended Texarkana Coll on an Albert Loftin scholarship; second preference is for an applicant who attended Texarkana Coll full time who plans on completing an undergraduate degree at Texas A&M U - Texarkana.
